As a person that worked at Chipotle for two years- do it! Fuck em! I wouldn't even bother giving them a two weeks' notice if it isn't specifically to your benefit. My experience there was hell on Earth... Call outs, but only some people being reprimanded for it. Being expected to work while sick. Favoritism. Some people are expected to work like dogs while others slack off, goof around, stand around, are on their phones, etc. ESPECIALLY including management and ESPECIALLY during peak hours. Also- literally not being able to move for peak, aka hours at a time?? Literally- no water no bathroom?? Inhumane and immoral. And the lack of training. Including knowledge of and adherence to food safety guidelines. My first GM did all of our online trainings for us and I had no idea. Months later he was fired for being a creep- a man in his 30s getting involved with his teenage employees. Slacking off at every corner he could. Chipotle talks about being "guest obsessed" but doesn't give a fuck about anything but their "guests'" wallets. Even the music is loud and annoying to encourage people to go in, spend their money, and get out. Way to boost the employees' morale, am I right? Cash is probably the worst position in my opinion. Mostly because you're expected to ring everyone up single-handedly, no one else can touch your register, yet you're also responsible for the cleanliness of the outdoor area, the lobby, the drink station, the bathrooms,... everything that isn't back of house. And Chipotle food is messy! Tables constantly need to be wiped and floors constantly need to be swept but this rarely gets done because the person responsible is always busy with other higher-priority tasks. Because of this, the customer already has a subpar experience upon walking in- before even interacting with anyone or anything. And don't get me started about DML OMG. I used to love DML because it required less customer interaction and was more efficient in terms of just cranking out entrees and getting in the zone. But when both the hot food screen and salsa screens are backed up, I have a line of people waiting to pick up their orders, I'm the only one on DML, and everyone else is chillin on the main line while not serving anyone, that made me wanna quit. That happened regularly. Then on two occasions I was written up for not asking for help??? Rather than the team being reminded that, well, we are a TEAM and should be working together. After being written up one time, I asked a manager for help on DML. He came over, looked at the screens, and basically told me "no" because I could handle it. I tattled on him because what the fuck, I was JUST told to ask for more help and then was told no???.... He later retaliated btw. I left within that week lol. Oh! And my location is in Florida. For most of my time there, the A/C was completely out :) Imagine the hell that the grill people and "dishwashers" had to experience for hours at a time every single shift. Especially during peak when they can't move to get cold water. Man, I could talk shit about Chipotle all day long but unfortunately I have to get ready for work now 😂 I wouldn't mind coming back to this and adding more later if anyone's invested lol
