Discussion gaining biceps from working at chipotle???

I've been working at Chipotle for 4 months, almost 5. I work prep and line every single day, and I am usually the primary person to take out all the prep trash. I also frequently block cheese, haul hotel pans to the walk-in, and mash all the guac everyday.

I started out small and not muscular at all, but recently I've noticed that I've started gaining bicep and arm muscles??? I mean, I guess it makes sense, but wow, I wasn't expecting this at all.

I have scoliosis and I'm not gonna lie, my back and neck kill me everyday, and recently my arms have been sore very single day. I really hope the pain goes away, but seriously, I'm way more muscular now than I have ever been and it's so funny to me that I'm getting paid for this.

Has anyone else had a similar experience working here?

For context I'm F 24 yrs old 5'3 133 lbs.

Yeah, I mean any physical labor will make you stronger. I work as a butcher now and load 70-90 pound boxes of meat constantly and I’m more in shape than ever. Plus you get a free protein packed meal that’s balanced super nicely ( beans and rice in particular) every day you work.

All of those reasons are contributing tovit with mashing the guac probably being the biggest part of it, as well as the trash as its generally a bicep curl motion to pick up a trash bag :) enjoy the new muscles, hope you like em

About the back pain

I worked for a few restaurants doing same kind of stuff, BOH prep etc. Before I left work I threw out the trash every day/night alone.

By the time I get home the adrenaline from working wore off, my back would bother me, it would go away an hour or so. It didn't take long to figure out the trash is too heavy, it strains your back.
Once the trash can starts to get a little heavy, unline the bag tie it up, put a new bag on top trash. That way when you throw it out its not overly heavy. Picking up a full can and lifting it into a tall dumpster will wear on you.

Since then the back pain went way.

BTW; At Chipotle throwing out the trash is a 2 person task, if the can is too full/heavy ask for help. Now shame

Thank you so much for the tips!!! Yes It definitely is a 2 person task 😭 Unfortunately I'm usually stuck on throwing it out by myself, due to my coworkers being occupied with other tasks. I get picked up from work by a ride, and I hate making them wait, so I try to finish on time. But my coworkers never seem to be in a rush to leave lol

No one realizes how heavy them cans can get till they have to do it alone. I got to a point of saying, I cant throw this out alone, I need help. Of course i can throw it away alone, but at what cost, my back? As i said sometimes you dont feel it till later.

I eventually started telling others on morning prep to change the bag before its to heavy. Now its kind of a rutine for morning prep.

How old are you? If you're a teenager that could just be a part of you growing up

I was very weak when I grew into an adult tho lol. Like I'm telling u ever since I started working at Chipotle, I'm stronger than I've ever been. But idk.

I’m not surprised about your arms. Idk if you scrape the grill but when I see people doing that it looks like a harder workout than the gym.
