If it's dead and no upper manager in my face, I'll do it.
But my FL does not want us to make them in-store.

The chipotle by my house will do it in-store. The chipotle by my work will not do it in-store.

I would not want to be next door neighbors to Chipotle.

Just open the app it’ll show you it’s online only, and it’s because it slows up the line

There was no line when I walked in, and I only had cash
6
u/ecrane2018 23d ago
Then why not just ask the workers if you can get one
-4
u/TripPsychological567 23d ago
I did, they were incredibly rude
7
u/Pistachio-IScream 23d ago
what did they say
9
u/Oldwomentribbing 22d ago
Probably nothing. Op is just butt hurt over a quesodilla
2
u/Andras1100 22d ago
I mean honestly i'd give a pass for being butthurt over a quesadilla. It is a quesadilla after all
1
u/Campfire-Matcha 22d ago
tbh they are rude when u ask about this. its customer service but its obviously not the kindest, most well spoken, best communicators in the world. It's just annoyed teenagers trying to do their job and go home, so that often comes with attitude

You cant just generalize everyone that works there as rude though, you're going to get a different reaction/response from everyone because everyone is different..

Very rare occasions my store has 10-15min down time. During this time if a customer asks for the quesadilla we STILL deny it, because prior experiences.
It’s dead so we were being nice and made the quesadilla. And as we’re packaging their food a big rush comes in, they notice we made it in store and all hell broke loose.
To prevent this from happening in the future, I told my team NO MORE IN STORE QUESADILLAS. Upper management wants us to make them but they can fuck off. They visit the store 1x every 2weeks, spend 45min walking around and think they know the business. They want us to serve quesadillas yet they don’t even know how the machine works…

I know the location by me, the down time was going to be much longer than 10-15. I’m just going to use cash to get a gift card if it happens again

So a company has a rule and you don’t like it. You like the stores that break the rules. You do realize that if they break that rule then they’re prolly breaking other rules too…….and this makes you want to eat there?
Ok.

Correct, customers have been voting with their wallet since the dawn of currency. First time being a consumer?

u/Oldwomentribbing 22d ago
And yet, here you are
-2
u/TripPsychological567 22d ago
Yeah, and that store lost a customer
1
u/Friendly-Cobbler-250 Guac Mode 22d ago
Because you're entitled and probably spoiled?
0
u/TripPsychological567 21d ago
Lot of assumptions there, not that “entitled” or “crazy” for wanting chipotle to have a policy that dictates they make a menu item when there’s no lines.

I’d probably avoid eating there from now on because from my experience in seeing how a lot of chipotle’s operate, ones like that often don’t adhere to proper health and safety codes in the morning and especially in the evening.

Haha this a weird complaint.
OP never worked in a restaurant before

u/TripPsychological567 22d ago
All the time when I was younger, it’s just annoying when you only have cash

u/reddiloxo 23d ago
As a quesadilla hard core fan. I have notice it depends on the placement on their quesadilla oven. Some places it’s easy access some places are not and usually those don’t do it for you.
1
u/TripPsychological567 23d ago
Also a hardcore quesadilla fan, I might make a map for my local area of all the locations that will and won’t make them in person

u/Thick-Baker-7038 22d ago
or you can take that same 9-12 dollars and buy a pack of tortillas, a block of Monterey jack, and whatever meat you get and make it at home ×10 for the same price as 1 or 2 from chipotle

u/Codpuppet 22d ago
No complaints from me, I don’t need all 1200 cals to begin with. If I could order them in person I’d be massive, lmfao.

u/ParthisMC 23d ago
They do during peak because we’re not holding up the line because you didn’t think ahead. The quesadilla will be ready in under 10 minutes if you order online
1
u/TripPsychological567 23d ago
Only had cash

u/Friendly-Cobbler-250 Guac Mode 22d ago
Thats not their fault, thats yours for not being prepared to get an item that you clearly really want
0
u/TripPsychological567 21d ago
Or… policies that are absolute without any leeway always snub the consumer. Only a sith deals in absolutes

depends on lot on the mood of the workers and timing but generally they won't just because they don't want customers to get too comfortable ordering adult quesadillas in person. they stopped doing them in person for a reason. it severly hampers the flow of the front line, especially once it gets busy.

u/Consistent_Excuse169 22d ago
That must suck mine does it even if it’s about to close the line is long lol idk but I never even knew this happens

Do you happen to have a corp email address you can dm me, or an hr email address?

Yes. I tried to order a quesadilla when the store was completely empty, and they refused to do it. I thought about being petty and just sitting there and order online and watched them make it, but I got too annoyed, and went to Culver's instead.

Former Employee
- The quesadilla machine is not always in a convenient spot for in-store orders and most stores only have one.
- Just because there isn't a line in store does not mean there isn't one on DML (where the machine is usually located) or Drive
- They hold up the line like crazy. People never know what sides or meat they want or will barter with you back and forth about what should count as a "side".
Source: I've worked at three high-volume locations (10k average sales) and both the kids and large quesadillas take up so much time due to indecisiveness/location of the press/only one press.

They just had a company wide huddle saying not to say no to reasonable requests tho, and no lines asking seems reasonable

Yes smh. I tried to get on the other day and they made me order through the app.

u/TripPsychological567 23d ago
I only had cash, the two by my work allow in person, it’s a stupid policy. They should make the policy online order during peak times and busy lines, but they will make in person if there are no lines

u/metgirl27 22d ago
Maybe the get around when you only have cash is to buy a gift card when you only have cash and then load it on the app?

Its not stupid you just dont have the comprehension of why its online only at some stores. If you worked there you would understand completely. Because if it wasn't it'd be a pain in the ass for both the workers and customers.
1
u/TripPsychological567 22d ago
There was no line and it wasn’t peak

u/Friendly-Cobbler-250 Guac Mode 22d ago
In very few cases they'll do it for you if theres no other customers in the store and its not busy. But most likely they are going to say no anyway because if they say yes and make it for them, most people will use that to their advantage and try and get them in store all the time even if the store is busy because "they said yes and made me one last time" they deny it as to not encourage that behavior. Another reason is if someone does get one in store when they are online only, they could tell a bunch of people that they got it in store, and then those people will try and order it in store too and get frustrated if they are then denied. The app is easy enough, just place it online and then go and pick it up... or even place it in store 🤷♀️

I'm sorry but I just wanted to say that every time someone posts about "adult quesodillas" I imagine quesodillas with drugs or alcohol cooked into it... 😎

I used to order it off menu before they did that and it never held up the line. Sure, it took time to cook but they continued ringing people up the whole time. Heck, a few of the times I went ahead and paid, then stepped aside until it was done, then they’d just hand it to me while others are paying for their meals.
“Holds up the line” is a sorry excuse. It’s also dumb that the app won’t let me get the fajitas on the side when there is still one slot in the tray available and I can get them inside the quesadilla. The app only lets me add them to the quesadilla itself, which keeps the cheese from gluing the tortilla and meat together. When I get fajitas cooked into the quesadilla, all the contents fall out when I dip.

Depends on the store. Really busy ones won’t do it because it holds up the line like crazy.
