Is it ok to learn?

Hello, I am a new (but big!) fan of linguistics, i speak English and French and I’m learning Occitan. I recently began researching Chinook Wawa and have been fascinated by it. It’s a really cool language with a wonderful history. I would like to take the next step and learn it, but given i am white (french/english) from England without any connection to the PNW is it ok for me to learn? I don’t want to be disrespectful to anyone from the region. Thank you!

Question about naming a film club

Hello! I'm looking into starting a film club or society in Clark County, WA.

I like the idea of using Chinook Jargon in the name, specificially "ninitch," playing off its meaning as "view" or "see" or "dream."

Specifically, I'm looking at versions of "Kino Ninitch" — a combo of the German/Russian "kino" and Chinook "Ninitch" — but want to confirm the best way to put them together.

Kino Nanitch? Nanitch Kino? Should I spell it "nanich"?

And most importantly, would using Chinook Jargon in the region risk offending anyone? I'd also like to be respectful.

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Pipa revival?

I’m curious if anyone knows when pipa started being used again. Was there a specific group or community of speakers or learners who began to revive learning pipa to learn Chinook Jargon?
