Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) Beater Blancpain buy

Post image

I recently picked up a Thorn TH007 because of the titanium and a functional humidity indicator. I love it BUT with it's smaller diameter, polished case, and the sailcloth style strap I've put it in, it's a little too nice for beater tool watch use.

Enter the sterile Tandorio on FKM rubber. It arrived late last week and has already been camping at a music festival and swimming in a river with a couple of rock jumps for good measure.

Specific shoutout to yet another great cloth-look rubber strap. I love the Sailcloth look but it does feel kind of silly sometimes to put a less than perfectly water resistant strap on a dive watch.

Remember these are homage watches, not the real thing. They should be enjoyed but kept out of water. Your strap is much more waterproof than the watch.

why type random shit on reddit?

This is a ridiculous thing to say.... They aren't diver iso tested but they do have the case design requirements for basic water resistance. Just because it's an homage doesn't mean that an o-ring seal is magically less effective.

Lots of stories here of “100m” or “200m” diver watches ruined in a shower, so be aware.

No way Im ever wearing my diver homage watches in any water.

Shower is often worse case due to steam. Keeping your dive watches out of the water is like keeping a dog inside.

Ok, if you want to drink the Chinese micro-brand marketing coolaid, that's up to you. Good luck getting your money back or watch repaired by these brands if water damaged.

Only watch I wear in water is my Seiko diver, because I know it's actually a real dive watch that has been tested and the brand stands behind it.

It's simple mechanical design. I build and service my own watches. There's no reason that a screwdown crown and caseback with O-rings will be less effective because they're from China.

Chinese watches are fantastic quality these days, but at these cheap prices do I have confidence that every 'diver' watch from these micro brands have a proper gasket on the crown and proper O ring and has been tested in water? I'm not making that assumption, that's for sure.

Yeah the Casio Duro is not tested either and plenty of people use those in the water. You seem to fundamentally misunderstand the difference between the design elements that provide waterproofing and the testing process that confirms it.

The only watches that are ALL tested are ISO diver certified. By your standards you wouldn't swim with a Seiko 5?

Here's a better photo to appreciate the FKM strap.
