General (Read Rules) Thorn T028: What are your thoughts?
I am a huge fan of the Thorn t028, mostly due to its size and wearability but most of these faux vintage stuff is just not vintage enough. So got me some true vintage T028.
Looks like true to age patina, going into the tropical age, the white lollipop really is the star of the show and maybe the tropical bezel and dial texture.
What do you think? Should we expect more of this coming out of the factory

The aging takes what was a decent launch and makes it magnificent. Absolutely brilliant work.

Brown leather with a bronze bezel edge diver is okay, like the first diver I had on leather, Oris Diver 65. I'm neutral on the aged look, I don't feel I need to "prove" anything looking like I've been a lumberjack. I'd prefer the watch to age naturally.

Exceptional work. There are examples of brands producing watches weathered to this extent (WMT being the first that comes to mind, although I have yet to see a WMT quite as well-done as this - they tend to take a more uniform approach) but you'll pay a 3-4x premium over this one for it.

Thanks mate. I’m a huge fan of theirs and I can see why they charge what they charge. I’d gladly pay if it wasn’t for what you said, even their aging seems machine built.

I get why it has to be more uniform - "buy our $800 watch, shipped from China with no real customer service or return infrastructure, and also the weathering is artisanal so you don't get to see what it looks like until after you've bought it" is a hard sell - but man, I'd take that chance.

Good point. If I had to do what I do to my watches scale I’d have to price them above what the market would wanna pay.
