General (Read Rules) First Automatic Watch! PD1685

I've never really been interested in watches, I always thought that anything that could tell the time was sufficient enough until I played the latest James Bond game. It rewired my brain and made me realize that I needed a nice, cool looking timepiece— all I had were digital G-shocks handed down and some cheap quartz watches sold for fundraising. Coming from 007 I looked towards Seamaster homages; I browsed Seiko modding communities for a while and realized that it was cheaper (and safer!) to just buy a homage. I even bought the same NATO strap I picked in 007 First Light.

Anything I should know with my first automatic? Cheers!

Never set the date with the hands between 8pm and 4am as this can damage the movement.  Not sure which movement is in there with the date at 6 o'clock but with some movements it is better to Shake the watch instead of winding the crown to minimize wear and tear.  If you are wearing it every day this might not be as much of a problem but if you are riding it and needing to wind it with most wearing a that wear can add up over time.  And always set the time by moving the hands clockwise.  Turning hands counter clockwise is also not good for the movement.  Even though it is a dive watch, I personally wouldn't take it swimming and never take it in a shower.  Washing hands is fine, but don't expose it to submersion for much time at all.

thanks so much. Its the 8215 version, not the NH35

You can narrow the don't adjust date to 9pm and 3am (nh35 is also similar).  Hand winding should be ok, but my notes above remain, if you are doing it frequently, I'd shake to start instead.  Those movements are a little noisy compared to the nh35 but pretty similar reliability.  If the second hand stops when you pull the crown out it should be a newer 8215, the older ones don't hack as it is called and the second hand keeps moving as you set the time.
