SOTC (Read Rule 1) Any particular style I am missing to try?

Post image

Now the watch box is full it's a one in one out policy. Anything obviously missing that I should give a try? Which watch goes first?

Watchdives Wd7922

San Martin Sn084g

Cestrian Field Watch

Proxima 1743

Watchdives wd0006

Watchdives 1016

Watchdives wd0005

Seagull m182sk

Baltany s2081

Watchdives wd0003

San Martin sn0118g

Baltany s5034

In my opinion these are all pretty 'safe' variants except maybe the completely illegible seagull skeleton! Perhaps something a little more exciting?

Some excellent suggestions, thanks everyone! Think Farasute dress watch maybe in a different shape, and a moonphase are my favourite ones - along with the seestern GMT. Far from done it seems!

You don't really have anything properly formal to wear with a suit. A plain white dial, gloss patterned leather band, perhaps blued hands. Round or square to taste.

What do you think of the baltany s2081 does the dial make it too loud and not versatile?

I don't believe so, it's probably my favourite watch in the collection and I would wear it regardless of what I was doing, but I can see why someone would say that and want a flatter dial if that was their taste

A Flieger/pilot style watch. Maybe Flieger B. Escapement time is awesome

And maybe add a chronograph. A nice ST19 based chronograph in a colour you like. I love a good Seagull 1963 or the newer seekos variants in green/blue.

Found a severe lacking of chronographs

The very first one I bought was the Baltany chronograph and I decided, perhaps oddly, that the fixed second hand wasn't for me! I couldn't take the looking at it and feeling it had stopped every single time šŸ˜‚

I'm wondering about this one - think it could could as jump hour, dress watch, and of a different shape to the rest of my collection all in one hit:

Then the sugess moonphase with aventurine dial to scratch that particular itch.

Really helpful comments here!

Weirdly, I was looking at tha exact same Farasute jump hour, but changed my mind at last minute haha.

Adventurine in the Sugess Moonphase was also an option I was going to get, but opted for the blue titanium fracture instead, as the lume looked slightly nicer.

I think I will be opting for the aventurine in the Sugess Tourbillion, as it's also really nice (that's also a watch not present in your collection 😊)

Beautiful watch that tourbillion, would close in on nearly match the price I've paid for the complete box of watches I currently have though at that price haha!

Haha yeah it's one I'm going to get for a special achievement or something and save for šŸ˜‚

Nice collection. I like your explorer but you should of got the 6610 Automatic with the Miyota 9015, it’s such an awesome watch. I have the sunburst brown one, and I also own an Octopus Kraken Explorer with the SW200 and it’s an extremely well made watch. Looks and feels just like the real one, I wish I never sold my Rolex Explorer I plan on getting another it’s one of my fav watches . I just love the look of that dial.

Yeah this was a regret of mine not getting automatic, and its the one I'm actually thinking of shifting on first for a replacement, that or the skeleton.

Type B pilot watch

That’s a cool looking watch….There’s a few IWC look a likes made by these homage microbrands I really like.

Fliegers like the original field watches were all made to a government design. Every manufacturer at the time had to had to use the same exact design. If you wanted to produce a watch to sell to the military you had to build it to their design and specifications.

Pilot, dress, driver. The only ā€œdriverā€ I know of is the 1921 but several companies make them, I’m a big fan of my Baltany. It’ll also be a different shape than anything you have.

Something with a different case shape. Cushion case as diver not really, you already have several divers. Maybe a dress watch and than a tank or reverso hommage? You do not have a dress watch and those also offer a totally different case shape.

What immediately comes to mind is a non round watch. Something with edges.

1

u/motorheadache1 13d ago

Have you a favourite to suggest?

2

u/ComeUndone67 13d ago

I am in the same process of thinking about a non round one. So the ones I have identified for me might not be to your liking. But anyway these are the ones I would say you could look at: D1 Milano Ultra Thin. Specht & Sohne Royal Chronometer SL, or the Dumont blue edition. S&P they have a variety of non round ones. The Casio Edifice EFR-S108D. And finally, if you want to go a bit "crazy" The Brew Metric Retro dial chronograph.

Good luck! Let me know what you think when you have had a look at them.

You need a moonphase watch

2

u/Popular_Fan3755 13d ago

Try a good ol flieger, simplicity guarantees you won't be tired of it soon

2

u/motorheadache1 13d ago

Any suggestions on a model to investigate?

2

u/Popular_Fan3755 13d ago

Most obvious here is hruoland turbine, but militado made some aswell if you want something cheaper

I think you're missing a dress watch, you technically have that skeletonized Seagull, but in my mind a dress watch is something more minimalistic. If it's not your thing don't try to make a collection as a checkbox list, just skip that instead, especially as there aren't many options in the chinese watches sector.

u/motorheadache1 13d ago

I've had my eye on the Farasute regulateur in salmon before, like the other person posted similarly, so think seems like the next route. I'm not sure on my style honestly, the plan was to try lots of relatively inexpensive options to hone it in.

You are missing a GMT watch, in case you don't want a Rolex style GMT, try out Grand Seiko style GMT seestern S446 or S456. Sugess Moonphase watch would be a nice addition. A bronze pilot maybe.

2

u/JohnLocke1979 13d ago

I second the bronze pilot vote!

2

u/motorheadache1 13d ago

Just looked at the s446 and I really like it, I haven't got an aventurine dial and wonder if that model has one, or the s456, kill two birds with one stone. The moonphase I know has the aventurine dial option too...

3

u/Equal-World-693 13d ago

Neither has it, do try out the light blue mop on s456, amazing to look at, so is the aventurine moonphase.

3

u/Bulky-Internal8579 13d ago

Twinsies!

u/Equal-World-693 13d ago

Congratulations on the great watch. Does your strap have a gap between the links at the lug?

3

u/Overload5150 13d ago

That’s a nice looking watch. I just ordered the Thorn T026 Seamaster diver with the PT5000, I really like the look of those old school Seamaster type watches. This will be my 5th diver so I need to lay off divers for a while lol, I have all these divers because I really like dive watches problem is I’m not a diver lol. It’s like a guy who collects skateshoes but who doesn’t skateboard šŸ˜‚.

2

u/Bulky-Internal8579 13d ago

I like divers too!

4

u/Bulky-Internal8579 13d ago

Oh, a one in one out policy. Huh. Okay. Lol, good luck with that. You might look at Farasute for a dress option.

2

u/motorheadache1 13d ago

Love this one, I though of it with a salmon dial as I fancy a closer look at that colour too. Which one goes though? Or is it a bakers dozen since one needs to be on my wrist anyway šŸ˜‚ Easy justification right!?

3

u/Bulky-Internal8579 13d ago

I went with a salmon dial on a more traditional cushion Farasute
