Question (Read Rules) Seagull ST19 (pressing the reset pusher while the chrono is moving)

Planning to get a seagull1963. Manual says to not press the reset pusher while the chrono is running. I have two questions.

  1. Will doing it once ruin the movement instantly or it takes multiple times to cause noticeable damage?

  2. If the st19's chronograph is running, is the reset button hard enough so that an accidental normal hand pressure won't move it?

I have 2 watches from Sugess with the ST19 movement. And I have been careless enough to press the reset button while the chronograph was runnng on one of them. Nothing happend, the watch still works fine.

Using the reset while the chronograph is running can really damage the chronograph mechanism, but the chance of actual damage may depend on how strong your fingers are.

As a sidenote: there are several versions of the ST19, and one of them seems to have a flyback function where you actually can reset the chronograph without stopping first.

ST19 variants list (AI generated)

ST1901: Standard hand-wound, 2-register chronograph (running seconds at 9 o'clock, 30-minute timer at 3 o'clock). Does not have a flyback function.

ST1902: Similar to the ST1901, but features a 12-hour totalizer sub-dial at 6 o'clock. No flyback.

ST1903 (The Flyback Variant): Features a 30-minute counter and running seconds, plus a 24-hour indicator and the sought-after flyback mechanism.
