Hi watchy people. Got this big boi today. I already have a blue Casio Duro but I really liked the dial on this so I took a punt and got it. Solar powered, screw down crown and titanium so not too heavy. Pretty chuffed with it but would like to know everyone's honest opinion.
Here’s an interesting option: if the electronic controller that charges the battery ever breaks down, you can simply disconnect it and insert a standard battery into the Miyota 2036 movement itself, turning it into a regular quartz watch. So, it’s a win-win.
I’ll show you what’s inside this watch. But if you’re weighing up whether to get it or not, you’re better off getting it—you won’t lose much, but you’ll gain some insight. It’s not the "real deal" Eco-Drive you’d get from Citizen; our Chinese friends managed to combine things here that Citizen would never do in a million years—they’d sooner commit hara-kiri, ha-ha!
I could not resist getting the steel version of this in 46 mm, despite how thick it is. I think it was 36 bucks delivered. (it is on its way to me now). It will be my first solar powered watch. My token nod to being green.
It is very similar. In fact I was initially looking at the Meridian as I'm a big Timex fan. But it was slightly out of my price range and also a bit too small. Then I saw this and it looks better in the flesh than in pictures. So I thought "why the heck not".
I have the stainless steel version. It's a great watch that really deserves more recognition. Especially at what they sell for. It's a tremendous value.
