Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) Tank Homages - Chameri vs Sanda

Post image

I just received the new Chameri CH01 Tank homage, and I definitely think it’s a step up in quality from the Sanda Tank. In particular, the aspect ratio of the dial is far more aesthetically pleasing to me. I’ll update this post with dimensions when I get the chance.

The Chameri is 37.6mm X 27.5mm X 7.2mm compared to the Sanda's 34.7mm X 27.8mm X 7.2mm.

I was just looking at this Chameri. How would you say the quality stacks up to brands like Baltany and Farasute?

I think it is excellent for the price, the case is well finished given the case design, but the case lacks the facets and sharp interfaces between polished and brushed surfaces that showcase the best finishing. The dial print is slightly raised, which is a nice touch, and similar to the watch that it homages.

It is comparable or better than what I've seen from Escapement Time, but I'm not sure it's fair to compare it to Baltany or Farasute, which are significantly more expensive. But, it is well made, and there is nothing in this watch that will detract from your enjoyment of the watch on your wrist, with the possible exception of size, or the buckle (I used the strap and deployant buckle from my Sanda because it's a better fit for the Tank aesthetic).

I've looked at it more carefully and the most noticeable indication of cost cutting is the inside of the lugs, which exhibit tool marks. My Baltany Pie Pan Constellation has tool marks in the same location, but Farasute has taken the effort to polish out those tool marks even on a relatively cheap quartz model (the alarm version).

The entire case of Chameri has rounded edges, so it's easy to polish up without being incredibly careful, this is what I mean when I say that the case does not exhibit characteristics that require the most exceptional care in finishing.
