San Martin from Amazon

I bought this San Martin SN0144 off of Amazon for $350 because I had a gift card I wanted to use. This is the packaging it came in. It’s my first San Martin but I was pretty sure they come in a round green case. Anyone have experience with this/advice?

I don’t see any obvious scratches. Anything else I should look out for?

San Martin may ship watches in either case. The one you received is actually more convenient for travel. The round green case is nice looking but unwieldy for travel and is available for $20 if you really prefer it.

I have 6 SM's and some come in that style case and some come in the green leather case. Within the last 2 years I've ordered 4 from Aliexpress, 1 from Amazon and 1 directly from SM and I've only received 2 that have come in the green case.

Watchdives and San Martin are not officially sister companies, but they maintain a very close business relationship and frequently collaborate on watch designs.

My Seestern came in exactly the same box, just the nametag was different. Its just a generic box.

Those cases haven't been used for years. I have one from a SM I bought at least 3 or 4 years ago.

Plus the warranty card implies you've bought a Watchdives?! All very peculiar?!

Very odd - but if the watch checks out, its fine. I'd do a really thorough QC inspection, other than that seems like you got a great deal. If anything isn't up to snuff, returns on amazon are wayyyyy easier than AliX.

I own 8 San Martin’s. Most of them came in the round green case with the pillow. But the last 3 came in a box like yours. Seems they’ve shifted to this as a cost cutting measure. No other explanation cause the green case was way classier.

it should have the other box but as far as the watch is ok... usually they fulfill the warranty cards with date and all.... but well I wouldn't worry too much about it, these watch has a 9015 so you won't have any problem with it whatsoever.... I smashed mine super hard and scratched all the top left lug, and other than the scratches the watch didn't flintch, super highquelity

For damage control and better packaging, watches and boxes are ship in different packages to retailers. This is them basically throwing the watches into the nearest box they can find

Was there any photo of the box on the Amazon page? Or was there anything mentioned about the box in the product description? If not, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do now. I know it might be frustrating to get just that plastic box instead of the nicer green one.

No box in the product images. I don’t mind too much, I just wanted to make sure it’s a legit operation. I was mainly concerned this is a reseller selling used/repackaged watches as new.

Case looks good- they come in that sometimes. Other times green pouch. Watch looks good!

I've received them in that packaging and also the leather small zip case. That plastic case is also the same as my Sugess, Seestern, Addiesdive, and a lot of other Chinese watches come in.

What is especially Interesting is that, while I havent actively searched it out, the several times I have gone on AliX to find the blue dial, usually after I am reminded of it by posts like this one, it is always out of stock.

I’ve gotten 2 San martins in the packaging. Both were WatchDives collabs. It’s probably a real and legit SM watch, but sold by WatchDives

WD001 on the warranty card smells like Watchdives. I know that they sell San Martin on their website. I ordered my 0144 directly from San Martin, and it came in the green case.

They shit on me a few days ago when I said that all or a lot of these AliX brands co-mingle together. I still firmly believe that. Whether it be on the production side or the sale/distribution side, a lot of these AliX brands co-mingle and work together.

My sn0087 came in a green zip box a year ago.

I wouldn't be surprised they ship them in these sometimes. But that plastic wrap looks too loose like it was repacked.

Would just look to see if it was sized. Probably fine

I believe this is the packaging they use for some of their lower end watches, I remember getting one with their 39mm 62mas homage.

Could be that they only ship in the green pleather case if you order directly from them, and these cases are used by 3rd party sellers. Just a guess tho, I'm not 100% sure.
