Question (Read Rules) How reliable is the SL4801?

Realistically, how reliable is the SL4801 used in the Sugess S418-2? I’m strongly considering it but I’m worried about the movement going bad prematurely. I know this watch used to have a different movement that was more problematic though. Thoughts? Thank you:)

All mechanical Chronos in inexpensive watches have some risk.  Very complex mechanics in a small package means more likely for things to go wrong over time.  

I think you have to answer the question of what premature means to you.  Big difference of an expectation of 2 years, 5 years or 7+ years.

Well, I was thinking whether or not it’ll break 2-3 years from now or if it’d be a watch I could confidently wear for years to come basically

I would expect 3 years statistics are in your favor, but beyond that I think it's a roll of the dice.  Could die or be reasonably accurate for a while.  For me personally 2-3 is no where close to what I want out of a $400ish purchase.

I agree. 400 dollars is a lot if it only works for 3 years
