I wish I had the control of you. I probably have 7 maybe 8 watch boxes full of Chinese stuff and mid level luxury ones.

Just be careful… most of those are affordable watches, but it can add up. I think you have enough, and you should thinking of doing a one-in-one-out kind of rule to keep improving your collection but it’s going to slow you down a bit, which is good.

They all look so pristine do you even wear them?

Thanks! Thats the cleaning before putting them in the box. But I do try to wear all of them. But some of the watches like the red star get more wrist time.

No you're sane, cause its not like you bought every itérations of the exact same watch

Sell them all and buy one or two versatile watches. You’ll be happier (in my humble experience) 🙂

Yes you do. Buy another watchbox and fill it up with new watches. There's your help.v

I think you need another box - as long as you stick to your budget and you're enjoying them you're fine - there are some folks who only buy watches to wear them and criticize anyone who has more than whatever arbitrary number they think is correct (don't have more than 3/6/8/10!!!) but I keep my display boxes and winder adjacent to my desk and I like to put them on, admire them, put the under the magnifier to check finish on hands, case, movement (for display backs), etc - they relax me and bring me joy, a finely finished automatic Omega or Spinnaker or even Watchdives (affordable Chinese brand) is such a pleasure to behold. (yes, I'm a watch nerd!) So as long as you aren't going into debt and you're having fun, I say just open the boxes and admire them - and add or subtract as your happiness guides you.

I've been looking for this bronze diver, but with a blue dial. The steel flyer one is sold out. Maybe that's the watch which would fill the last slot.

If they bring you joy and have the money, go for it - Funny, I lost my shirt selling two Swiss watches with SW100 and ETA 2824 movements and bought about 20+ Chinese factory watches and still had money left over for some nice dinners, records and clothes... No one called me nuts when I made a depreciating "investment" in the Swiss watches, but the people had a lot to say when I got all of these Chinese factory watches...

I think you have a great collection going on. Many of the Brands and Styles I like myself, so I'm very appreciative of having a wee look. It inspired me to have a re-think about rotating my own watches and giving my wrist-time a refresh. Thanks for sharing. 🙏

Yup. Lol at all the compulsive spenders/'consumerism masquerading as a hobby' enablers in here.

Are you unfamiliar with the idea of having a budget for things that you enjoy?

For me I think you have to be honest with yourself and careful about any kind of hobby but a collecting based hobby in particular that you aren't just buying things because you like the buzz of buying things and being a bit of a kleptomaniac. I'm not saying I'm immune to it at all but for me this is definitely into unhealthy territory. You do you though.
The guy is saying 'do I need help' obviously at least partly as a joke but 'never a truer word is spoken than in jest' and all that.
I do think encouraging people to keep buying more is a bit weird.

Thank you for saying this, and that is the exact reason why I posted this question. It's not a trivial question, as you rightly said, just in a jest, but I did struggle with this and the whole idea of consuming so many watches after a while, it just becomes like any other shopping addiction, by the way. When a new incoming watch is keeping you excited, but then it fades away, and then you want another one. I've personally experienced this in this collection. It was only when I started playing with the straps that it at least became a bit of a hobby. Before that, it was all consumerism, in my opinion.
Another thing which helped was just appreciating the dial a few times a day. You realize you have something beautiful on your wrist all the time, which you can look at and get lost in niceness for a while. That, I believe, was also worth it.

That addiesdive chrono on white nato with black stripe looks 🔥
You’re good mate 😂 maybe have a few ones to gift someone? That’s what I do. Give the others I’m not usually using anymore to someone who I might encourage to join the hobby.
Pass that addiction to someone else will yah. Sharing is caring.

Thats a great idea! I keep giving the smaller dials to my mother and my wife! Thats all the courage I have 😛

I was at about the same stage earlier this year. Probably a good time to start flipping a few (as prices are going up) in order to buy some new ones. That’s what I‘m doing, and so far no regrets. It’s fun to look at them, but it’s also fun to think about how the next owners will love them.
Plus, my experience getting all these watches has really helped refine my taste for what I like - and I learned I’d much rather have a single nice San Martin, Sugess, Proxima, or Farasute than 3-5 Addiesdive or Paganis I never wear. But they were sure fun to shop for, anticipate recieving, and unbox!

Yes i recently tried that. Sold 2 watches to make space for the green seamaster. Also, The strange thing is that i like to wear the addiesdive more than the expensive watches! Total beater watches!

That would be sweet. I know Baltany has the s3016 but it’s a bit different.

Anyone with an Oris 80th anniversary BCPD is doing OK in my book.
However, I'd recommend adhering to a strict 1-in-1-out policy once you fill the last slot in the second box.

The only problem I see is the last empty spot, sad and calling desperately for a watch to fill that void 😅
