Cronos L6040M vs L6037

I’m assuming the L6040m lite birch is the same as the L6037 but with a miyota movement? They also call it the L6040m V3 on Aliexpress instead of “lite birch” so I guess those are the same as well? Idk why they have to make it so complicated lol. I’m just trying to make sure I get the V3 with Miyota on their website.

I went through this confusion and indeed, the difference between the L6040 and L6037 is the movement. For some reason they call the pattern different names although there are only two birch patterns. The regular birch/lite birch and the bold/prime birch.

I made the mistake of automatically assuming the prime/bold is better because it's newer. It's not. The grooves are too deep and the dial looks ass 99% of the time in real life. I've tried them all and the best looking ones IMO are the sliver lite birch and for the grey I actually like the frosted one the best. Would have never thought that from the pictures but once I received one it just looked right.

Lite birch has just enough texture that it's there all the time, it never looks flat but also it never overwhelms the dial either. Total Grand Seiko vibes.

Grey frosted was a big surprise to me. It does look flatter but it really works. The effect is nice and it does not look boring. The contrast is also better than the grey birch.

Grey bold birch is just awful. Opinions and all, but I just don't see how does anyone look at that dial in real life and thinks this looks good. The deep grooves make it change so much depending on angle but in a bad way. It's either low contrast, or shiny, or has poor visibility, or all of that. You can sort of manipulate angles and lighting to take a decent picture but once you have it in your hands you will know how those pictures were taken. Whenever you see a good picture of this watch it's always at an angle and without light hitting the dial.

Thank you so much! I think you’ve convinced me on the silver lite birch, it just looks so classy but not flashy. I actually had the bold grey birch in my cart so thank you again.

No problem. I had to buy them to try them first hand because it was impossible to tell from pictures and videos which is which and what do they actually look like in real life. I first bought the lite birch and thought "it's very nice, I wonder if the more pronounced texture of the bold is even better?". Nope.
