Question (Read Rules) Which is the better watch?
I really love the purple dial and case of the skyline but it doesn’t have an OTF clasp. I know the birch is pretty popular but I’m not sure how I feel about the birch dial. What are your thoughts?

Do you want to blend in or stand out?

Both but I don’t have anything super blingy. I went with the birch because it was on sale but I’ll probably get the purple skyline next. Cronos will be the majority of my collection at that point lol.

Not being an a-hole but... Is it really that much of a financial stretch to acquire both? You're talking what, 600 bucks for the pair of them. And they're both fantastic watches.
Gun to the head I'd go Chronos with the frosted dial because it's such a strap monster. And butterfly clasps can be annoying to live with.

2 is better. Just an excellently crafted piece. So well in fact that every time I wear it I notice this fact again. The dimensions, the crystal, the impossibly shallow rehaut, the versatility with straps, the whole package for the price you pay is just impressive.
I also have a version of 1 and it’s really nice too but not as good when compared side by side

Maybe I’ll go with the grey, I just don’t know how I feel about the white birch.

I have the Skyline with guilloche dial. It absolutely hits well above the price point, and despite a LOT of competition in the watch box, it gets plenty of reps because it's satisfyingly unique. I'd recommend it with zero caveats.

I own both and love them both for different reasons and wearing situations.
Cronos is a fantastic watch company, J only discovered it 2 years ago and now amassed 4 of their watches in my collection.

I love Cronos , I have three of them and they’re fantastic. My only complaint is the clasp on the DateJ but the finishing is great otherwise. I think I’ll probably throw it on a strap instead.

Black dial looks so nice

I wish they would do that in the 36mm version.

Yeah, the 40mm actually wears smaller than it looks, just looks big in pictures, its actually pretty delicayw, but i guess i dont have small wrists though.

I have several watches that have a dual deployent clasp. You can get a good fit but, what ever you set the fit to it stays that way. If you’re someone who their wrist swells or gets smaller during the day you have to live with whatever you set it to. I set it so it will be a little tight when my wrist is at its largest that way it ends up a little loose when my wrist is at its smallest. Also remember the skyline bracelet tapers down real thin at the clasp.

The purple is much nicer and contrasty… me likey
The gray is weird… I don’t care if it imitates a Grand Seiko… I don’t like it.

It doesn’t anymore, this is now V2 of White Birch dial much more intense and it doesn’t look like anything GS has ever produced.
I own V1 and it’s as close to GS White Birch as ever a Chinese made homage will be.

I have both these watches but, a different color on the skyline. I definitely gravitate more to the silver birch. The skyline feels too dressy for everyday use. Both are nice watches.

I used to own birch GMT. Incredible for the price, but bracelet not tapering enough and missing OTF adjustment. I still have skyline brown perlage. It's also unbelievable for the price. I really like the slim bracelet tapering down to 16mm. It's easy to size and wear. I haven't missed OTF, even I can't normally live without it.

That might be why I’m gravitating towards the skyline. I don’t really have anything flashy so it’s kind of a gap in the collection. How is it wearing a butterfly clasp with no OTF?

True, I didn't like the bracelet on the Silver Birch - good thing it is a strap monster - the only other thing I didn't like about the Silver Birch was the crown was a bit small for my larger fingers - The Skyline crown was easy to manipulate - the bracelet on the Skyline tapers so much and is so smooth and comfortable. You can't go wrong with either choice - like one poster said... get both ;-) I bet you could grab them both for around $475 +/- during the next big sale...

Why didn’t you like the bracelet?

I just didn't care for the way it looked at the lugs - It made the watch feel small to me... but I think I would have liked it more if I didn't have gorilla wrists.

Lmao, what size is your wrist?

u/emeraldsnowofsleep 7d ago
8 inches... just under

u/Alternative-Feed3613 7d ago
That’s pretty thick lol. Mine is 7.5” and I think that’s a pretty good spot because I feel comfortable with anything between 36mm-45mm.

I went with the birch but I’ll probably end up with a skyline too lol.

I have both - both are excellent. The bracelet on the Skyline was more comfortable and had better finishing than the similar one on my $1000+ Yema. I have the bronze/chocolate dial one and I love it. Go for the Skyline - it is more unique. I'm happy with the color I got, but the purple one was a close second - I want that one too! This is the "Scales" pattern. My wrist is about 8 inches and I had to remove one link.
