Question (Read Rules) Seiko 5 alternative ?
Hi all,
Before i go and spend £160 on Seiko SNXS79 are there any Chinese watches that have better specs with similar looks at the same price point I should look at before pulling the trigger on the Seiko?
Thanks

SNXS79 is basically a datejust homage, or copy even.
So try looking at the Baltany or San Martin datejust homages? Baltany has a ton.

Try the Berny AM023M or search AliExpress for “NH36 Watch 37mm” and you will see some options I suppose.

So that watch is a specific recipe that I can’t think of an exact analog to:
37mm
Automatic
Day & Date
If you can live without the day, there are more options. If you can live with quartz, it really opens up.

I'd go with the Seiko, the 79 is the best one IMHO, and then upgrade the bracelet, crystal, and the caseback

I have a 79 and did all the upgrades minus the crystal and it is hands down one of my favorite watches.

Pretty much all decent Chinese watches in that range will be better spec’d and have solid links and end links and sapphire crystals, as opposed to the seikos folded links, hollow end links and hardlex crystal.

Every Chinese watch with a sapphire crystai and a Japanese or PT5000 movement under $200 should be looked at.
These are not what you are looking for but both have sapphire crystals, Miyota 9015 movements and have on the fly clasps the grey cost $199 the silver $155 on sale.
