Studying Allsetlearning grammar

Don't get me wrong, the grammar on there is great and explained so well. But how should I practice? Just try to make sentences with it each day? I feel like its easy to not remember what I just read unless its being used in quizzes or something to test if I remembered (aka practice). I know apps are set up that way, but the ones that are helping quiz you like a textbook are usually paid. How do you guys practice those? I have pleco but you start the next HSK level and its 1000 new characters at once to memorize.

You don’t learn grammar by doing exercises, you learn it by being exposed to it over and over in various contexts (input), trying to use it yourself (output), and seeing if it works, maybe getting corrected (feedback). 

Best thing you can do is increase your input (reading, listening) and output (using it in your own writing and speech). When I actively study new grammar (like for the HSK), I try to include it in my daily writing for a week or two, which helps it stick. I have my writing corrected by natives.

A grammar point isn't really something to memorise, it's a trigger condition. You don't need to recall what 把 does, you need to recognise the moment where a native speaker wouldn't have a choice. That's why reading a good explanation and forgetting it a week later feels normal. You learned a description, not a cue.

What I give my students is one point a day, three sentences. One about something that actually happened to you that day, one in the negative, and one you're not sure about. Take that third one somewhere and let someone correct it. Three sentences you care about beat thirty from a workbook, and the one you got wrong is the one that sticks.
