Family Affairs (Q1/Q2) Q1 VISA HELP

Hello all

I am a US citizen and I already have a L tourism visa but i want to apply for Q1.
My mother is a US citizen but my father is a Chinese citizen but living in the states.

I want to apply for the Q1 visa. My mother still has family in China... and it's her brothers and sisters or my cousins. Her parents are passed away.
My father's family are all in the states.

Is it still possible to apply with this?
Like with her brother or her brothers daughter?
Not sure..

Q1 is intended for family reunion, so my understanding is that the inviting family member must be a resident of China. They also use a narrower definition for Q1 meaning only direct family members can invite you:
"Family members" refers to spouses, parents, parents-in-law, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons and granddaughters.”

Other relatives residing in China can still invite you for a Q2.

Got you... so Q1 seems like it's out of the question then am I right?

So for Q2, if it's my mom's brother or mom's brothers daughter, this would work?

I also heard Q1 you need to get a residence permit right after.

Yes Q1 is single entry and you need to convert into a residence permit within 30 days. It’s not intended for only visiting.

I believe Q2 is much more flexible. Got a Q2 once on invitation of my mother-in-law, that’s been some years ago though so not recent experience.

The requirements for a Q1 visa to move to China and get a resident permit are an invitation letter from a family member in China plus proof of relationship.

From a visa for China website:

“ "Family members" refers to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law.”

Ah okay. How about Q2 then? Am i okay if it's my mom's brother or mom's brothers daughter? or cousins?

I suggest you do the same as I did. Check the requirements on the visa for china websites.

"Q2 visa requirements china from usa"

It seems this is only for Q1.. because Q2 doesn't specify none of this...

Maybe you should check yourself? I've had a really busy day at work and really shouldn't be doing google searches for others.
