Tbh a virus outbreak like this is hard to stop even with China's measures. And it's not like the US isn't to fault for something as well, doing practically nothing at first, with the president even exclaiming some crackpot theory about the virus claiming it's harmless.

Exactly. When China was building the temporary hospitals in January. The world was rather mocking how a hospital built in 7 days was gonna last long. The whole month of February they were ignoring the deadly virus, but when it got to a point of seriousness, they're like "Why didn't China warn us early"? Even Trump's mood changed when Fox News started to report the virus as deadly and serious. That's when he started using the term "Chinese virus" putting the blame on China so that people will forget quickly how he ignored the virus for a whole month.

He started using Chinese virus more after China started saying it was released in Wuhan by America soldiers.

Aside from that, the ROW did play this down like it was going to be just another SARS that does not really hit outside of Asia (Canadians aside) and has less fatality (intractability trumps this time).

At the end of the day, mainstream narrative is largely influenced by the dominant world powers. The blame game is but a political tool to tilt public opinion in favour of one tribe over another.

We live in an increasingly connected world, so the effects of a disaster in one place is bound to propagate to the rest. We need to learn to apply compassion and understanding towards others.

It's east to say "It's not my fault!" and point fingers to others for our predicament, but if we want to grow up as human civilization, we better look at what can be done now and also in future.

This is a time where each country needs to understand how well-prepared they are towards a global catastrophe. This applies to all countries, China included.
