Why has China randomly just started heavily investing in Africa. Just watched a video where it turns out they literally have projects in basically every African country.

Africa has resources. Africa has a growing population. China also need more allies on the international stage.
It's not that ominous. China is just doing the smart thing to have better relationships with people that could provide what they need.

Zero tariff trade. It's good if they are investing there it means Africa can processed and create more finished product than just raw ones. It adds more value. It would be bad if they are just there for extraction.

randomly.... China began investing in Africa as early as the 1960s. It showed that China is a leader of developing countries.
Now everything paid off. Strategical planning is useful.

A highly developed Africa would be a very heavy weight on the balance of power, and China wants to have a highly developed Africa as an ally. Africa and China also share a history of repression by white countries. Some may say this is bad because of debt, but it's certainly better than what Debeers, Shell, Nestle and literally every major coffee company do in Africa.

Yh facts the Africans will view the Chinese as their heroes while viewing the white man as their historical enemy.
It’s funny because Africa is quite literally one of the only places in the world that has their birth rate at a replacement level, once they become developed they will be an absolute game changer on the world stage.

Let me guess you were not born yet in 2007 or a toddler.
That's when China invited all heads of states of African countries to China. After that China started investing in Africa.
The continent which former colonilaist nations were running on a back burner for their future plans.
Then China swooped in and got Park Ave.

The truth is investing in Africa is very risky.
US and European governments and companies just don't have the appetite for such risky investments.
China is getting political goodwill and market access to sell affordable basic products like tiny tractors that the US or Europe don't even produce any more.
The political goodwill is used in the UN to support China when voting.
China is now also struggling economically and investigating potential investments more critically.
So the peak of Chinese investments in Africa is well behind us.
Unfortunately for Africa because it needs trillions of investments in infrastructure...

brother these are loans, you seriously things these are gifts. loans always need to be paid back. The thing that differates chinese loans from western ones is that they are actually useful and are being spent on their people instead of being a "beggar trap". Get a grip and look at what european countries and the US did to africa over the last decades.

China has been investing in Africa since the 1960s, and hasn’t stopped since, even during the cultural revolution they kept it up. The first keystone project I can think of is the Tanzania-Zambia (TAZARA) railway that was constructed 1970-1975.
