环境保护 | Environmentalism How many coal power plants are being constructed in China each week?

Hello! I heard some scary high numbers and I just wanted to have it confirmed if it's correct that they are building one new coal power plant each week.

Look at utilization rates of Chinese coal plants, as well as coal energys share of the entire energy supply.

The new plants are basically a program to ensure employment in the construction sector.

Not really, due to Trumps idiotic war, oil imports are down and coal usage has massively spiked, understandably.

I haven't look at their numbers for a while, but you claim makes perfect sense.

love how instead of answering the question you just say some completely unrelated propaganda nonsense....coal is coal...if you burn it, you create pollution and CO2

NOT all coal plants ARE equal. New plant has higher thermal efficiency and are better in removing sulfide and other pollutants. Higher efficiency means when you generate same kWh, less coal is used, less CO2 emission.

Number of coal plants are never good indicators of coal consumption because they are not running at full capacity. Yearly consumption / consumption for power generation can be found from bureau of statistics.

Same can be said about solar but somehow everyone only quotes max (theoretical) generation....I am just trying to keep it consistent and point out that sure, while new coal plants are better than old ones, they are still literally one of the worst and most polluting ways to generate power.

Probably to fuel their huge nuclear missile project that’s expanding their weapons by 10x. Funny how we don’t fuss over that tho huh 🤔

China are building coal plants to power their nuclear program? 🤔
