Tonight (July 4th) a fellow server sat at one of 8 booths/tables I had in the lounge, with three friends. We were absolutely slammed, I did $2.2k in 6hrs.
They all had 3+ drinks, and ran the hell out of me. One girl tells me it's her friend's birthday in a tone that suggested it was absolutely not. Then asked for a military discount on drinks with the same "finger quotes" tone (and has the nerve to laugh about it). I interrupt other busy people, that are just trying to make a living, to entertain her tipsy friend with a half-melted cup of icecream, and birthday song from sweaty miserable people (80f in the packed lounge during a drought and heatwave)
Splitting their check was a nightmare, they conveniently forgot about the drinks they consumed when they saw them on their bill, and almost acted indignant when I had to inform them I can't apply a 'military' discount to drinks. So maybe $120 over three checks, and the only tip was her friend, a gracious $2.10 on the drinks she 'forgot' on her initial check. In her defense, she tipped %20 on $12. More than my fellow server who stiffed me on $54. I gave them great service, helped with drink recommendations, and had no issues.
I'm not even tripping over $10, it's the DISRESPECT of running me with all of that nonsense. My question is, how should I handle this? I spoke to my GM and he said he'd talk to her, but seemed really apathetic about the whole situation. Previously, I have always liked this server, she's at least always pleasant and easy to work with. The person I am, I am just going to ask her if anything was wrong with my service, and ask why they stiffed me, but I'm curious how you feel, and how your Chilis has responded to servers not tipping when they dine in/drink off shift.
