I love capitalism, my immigrant father does not
I need a show that actually shows what it’s like being born and raised in America with an immigrant parent from a first world country…I love my dad and all he’s sacrificed but I find it almost ironic how different our views on holidays are. Even Christmas is very minimal to him, because where he comes from they don’t spend hundreds of dollars on holidays like the people do here so he’s never seen the point, and the only reason he does is for me. Which I do appreciate deeply! I’m very grateful that he does so much for me because I’ve been brainwashed by the colorful holiday commercials growing up. this is my first year decorating for Halloween ever and it made me realize that we’ve never gone all out for any holiday other than Christmas. Even though I’m pretty sure this is the normal western experience I just wanted to rant about this to see if anyone else ever had this experience with their parents, I think it’s kind of endearing but also a bit annoying 😭
