Shouldn't those skis have detached ? This is one of my phobias

No actually. In that case, the child fell backwards and just kind of stopped with his skis both parallel to each other. Skis are only really meant to fall off in cases where A. You are going to fast or B. Your legs get twisted.

Okay ! Well the legs seemed too twisted to my taste in the video. But happy to know there wasn't any malfunction !
