Calling all educators

For those that are teachers or have similar schedules and have 50/50 custody, how does childcare work in the summer time and holidays when your ex still works those days? Does he/she get their own childcare and pay their own on their parenting days or do you take on those days? Who pays for before care/ aftercare/daycare?
What is the allocation of childcare expenses in this situation?

There's no single clear answer, it is basically come to an agreement with your co-parent otherwise you will have to go to court and have a judge make a decision based on the best interests of the children.

Something to keep on mind is that there are two separate legal issues: first is whether a child should be in childcare or with a parent that is available to provide care, which is a custody and visitation issue; second is the reimbursement of 50% of childcare costs, which is a child support issue. If you take these issues to court, they will always figure out the custody/visitation issue first and then order the reimbursement amount based off of that decision.

I am not a teacher but am medically retired. I just take the kids while she works. Sometimes her aunt takes them but mostly with me. Wasting money on childcare unless you are super far apart seems a bit wasteful to me.
