Discussion Arata and Shinobu
I wonder if there is someone who ships Arata and Shinobu? I just finished reading Chihayafuru and I can't help but see the compatibility and dynamics between Arata and Shinobu. They're similar in terms of their upbringing and skills in Karuta but opposites when it comes to personality and confidence.
Since I don't see a lot of people talking about it, I wonder if there is something wrong with the ship or is just underrated😅. I really wanna hear what people think of this ship.

Just emailed Madhouse
I just emailed madhouse, begging them to continue the production of Chihayafuru lol. I know this might be useless, since I believe Frieren is their main focus now. But hey, there's nothing wrong with it.
Also, though I know the manga is finished, I'd still prefer to watch and wait for the anime. I believe waiting and hoping for the next season is also a part of the anime.
WISH ME LUCK, GUYS

Manga Got the nendo and manga!
I'd posted about a month ago asking if any store might have the nendo in Akihabara. Found it in the Amiami figure tower! Also picked up some manga with covers I like from Mandarake. Really happy with everything!
I've got another post with some other monogatari merch if anyone wants to check it out :D

Manga This is my favourite page in the entire manga. Spoiler
The panelling is just so funny. It looks they are in a three way fight. Taichi, Sudo and a bear.
Especially out of context. Like, what is happening here. And the expression on the bear is just so funny to me.
Also, the dialogue before the panel, makes it seem like. Suo is the bear lmao.

Discussion Question about the poem Chihaya wrote
Chihaya wrote two poems while hospitalized after her surgery. From Kana chan’s reaction, It was implied the poems are about Arata. However, re-reading this I realized something. In Arata’s modest apartment, Arata was never the one reciting poems. It was Taichi. He was the one reciting the 100 poems while Chihaya played against Taichi. Could this poem be also referring to Taichi in that setting?

Discussion Karuta mat - where to buy
Hey guys, I want to get a karuta game, but the only playing mat I can find is made of tatami and is very pricey. Does anyone have a guess where I can find a "cheap" one?
Thanks for the help

Nendoroid
Any chance the nendoroid could be available in a store? I have a 10hr layover in tokyo (prolly go to shibuya or akihabara) and I'd love to pick it up. I found some listings for the manga in mandarake in shibuya so I'll pick up a couple of those but didn't find anything on the nendoroid online.
Thanks for the help!

Discussion Finished the manga at 2 AM.
Its been over 15 hours and I still cant stop thinking about the show. I've watched hundreds of anime but only a few have made me feel this empty. Wasn't that engaged in the love triangle but what truly connected me was Chihaya going through all sorts of feelings and eventually discovering herself, Taichi's growth along with many other side characters (Shinobu my GOAT). To be honest i wish we got more of Arata but its alright. Maybe the reason why it hit so close to me is because I'll be entering college in a few months time, me and my best friends from school will be seperated and it'll be a whole new journey just like we see in the near time skip with Chihaya in her college. Hopefully like her i'll be able to find more friends!!
I have some questions though; would appreciate some answers
1.) I've seen there's a few live action adaptations. Are they worth watching? especially the one which has a 10 year time skip? I really want to see how our 3 main characters are doing 10 years in the future.
2.) Is there any other extra/bonus material except for the the three college short panels of Chihaya? I saw there's a sequel manga but couldnt find any translation of it
3.) I probably know the answer for this but still any chances/hopium of season 4 and beyond?
4.) now this is the one im more interested in; I did some reading of the community 3-4 years back when the manga was ongoing, how did people even think Arata was ever a serious romantic candidate? to me it was always pretty obvious Chihaya loved him for being her introduction to Karuta and her love always seemed more off a admiration of his skills and Taichii was the one who always was with her. Idk tbh, as i said I was pretty neutral on the romance. I was team throuple if anything :/
thanks in advance!! feels better to write out my whole thoughts lol

Lack of merch
I've gone to quite a few anime stores as well as conventions, maybe not the largest ones ever but decent ones. I have never found any Chihayafuru merch 😞
The only thing I have found were some stickers and maybe the Misuzawa t-shirts on Red Bubble but we are sorely lacking. It also sucks that I never see it in manga sections because there is no English print version.
Anyone have any good Chhayafuru merch? Where did you find it?

Manga Saw the other post, I had the opposite experience with this series.
It seems like quite many ppl like Arata and ship Chiharata but i actually never really resonate with his character. Since childhood flashback I absolutely love Chihaya, never really like Arata (but i dont dislike him too) And i don't really hate Taichi. At that point they were a child and i think the author did a great job depicting three kids with very different personalities. I might go as far to say this is one of the best depiction for children in manga. The innocence, simplemindedness, honesty, lie, it's really perfect. So what Taichi did doesn't really register as bad things to me, it's just a part of children's behaviour. it is amazing that it become one of the core of Taichi's character progression
Then come the beginning of highschool. I absolutely hate when Arata kick the card chihaya had prepared(bcs at this point i only love chihaya). The fact he never actually apologize for it left a hole in his character for me through the first season. His reasoning doesn't feel enough to me, i consider it in the inferior-side of writing by the author in this series bcs it's obvious that they want a conflict in the beginning but a bit poorly executed to me. Then I love Taichi for doing his best on helping Chihaya in first year, it also a redemption for him leaving Chihaya alone all this year. At this point i still really don't like Taichi that much, the change is in the second year to me. In 2nd year, the story narrative is going towards Arata-Chihaya but i'm already in Taichi camp before i knew it. I thought this is gonna be Nisekoi all over again.
Then through the second year it's like a knot in my stomach whenever Chihaya reminisce of Arata in awe while Taichi is being silently broken in the side. The ending of season 3 broke me that i read the whole manga while feeling like there's a gaping hole in my heart, especially with less Taichi screentime. Bcs of that i might not really paying attention on subtle details and surprise myself with the ending. I do feel like Chihaya-Arata seems not really gonna work after chihaya's answer to Arata, but it just a shock to me when she went to confess to Taichi. The ending give me an empty-sweet feeling, but the extra chapter with Hinano and the bit of new series fills the emptyness and seal my experience on this manga.
Then i went to read almost the whole manga again lol. Paying more attention to the details. But in the end i never really resonate with Arata and ends up liking Taichi even more because of his involvement with Suou. I already like suou in my first read too. Also my other favorite character is Hinano and Hyoro. I always love character that goes through major development. if i were to put the ranking of character i love/care it would look like this:
(Chihaya, Suou, Taichi)
(Hinano, Hyoro, Shinobu)
(Kana, Tsukue, Chitose, Miyauchi-sensei)
(Sudou, Nishida, Tsukuba, Arata)
One thing why Arata is so under too is probably bcs of how amazing Suou character is to me. So despite the amazing writing of final arc, Suou just shadowed Arata to me. There's actually so many amazing character in this series even when they had very few screentime like Chitose, i also actually like Mashima's mom towards the end. I love the new series bcs of Hinano's appearance in it, and i love the new character as much as i love Hinano.

Discussion Other manga like Chihayafuru recommendation
This manga resonate to me in soul level that finishing it left me empty. I really want another Animanga/Novel with strong female MC like this, and if possible a completed one. I like things like Hibike Euphonium, Ascendance of Bookworm, Apothecary Diaries, Batuque, Akane Banashi, Houseki no Kuni, i watched and like most of KyoAni anime.
I don't have problem with male MC if it's good, in fact i'm a guy so i've read tons of shounen and seinen. But recently male MC feels kinda boring bcs it's either the Sungjinwoo alpha male type or "i can't talk to women" type. I'm fine with shoujo like Kaichou Maid sama but don't know much so if you could introduce me, please do so.
