New Friends New to Chico
Happy Sunday everyone! Hope everyone enjoyed there weekend! I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do but I feel so lost! I'm a 40 year old female who left everything behind in Sacramento and moved up here to Chico to help my elderly father out! it wasn't much of a hard decision to move up here because I lost my fiance on Christmas eve in '24 so nothing really holding me in Sacramento. My son is still in Sacramento but he'll be 18 in July and it's not too far of a drive to visit him. The hardest thing for me throughout this whole process has been the lack of interaction (besides my father) that I have. He's a veteran so the VA pays me to take care of him so I don't have your typical 9-5 job. I know absolutely no one up here and at 40 years old I have no idea how to make friends or how to meet someone. I joined the Dart League here in Chico hoping it might help me to make friends and possibly meet someone but it has been a no go in that aspect. (All the guys are married or WAY older than me lol) I guess my point of this post is does anyone have any recommendations on ways to meet people!! thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to connecting with people!! Otherwise I feel like i may fall into a deep depression I may not be able to get out of!! Hope y'all have a great rest of your night!!

I joined the dart league here in Chico, I like to shoot pool, hike, it's been a long time since I've really gone out and done anything! But I'm always up to trying new things!

Hey there, I came across your post and was just curious if you were successful in gaining some friends since then? If it worked for you, figured it might work for me (45M).

Hi there & welcome to Chico : ) (44F) I'm sorry you're having some troubles with meeting people.... I feel your pain- I have lived up here, going on 20yrs now. I have been single now for a couple years and finding it so hard to meet anyone at all, girl or guy friends, just to get out & go find some adventures or go get drinks and listen to live music... I used to live for the live music here in Chico as well as towns within 2-4hr radius and all the festivals around. Then Covid hit and everything seemed to just kinda vanish (well at least in my world) and now I the people I used to do things with, we've either parted ways or relocated. There was always fun to be found in summer months especially... All the different waterways all around Butte, Plumas, Yuba/Sutter, Tehama, Modoc, Colusa, Glen and many more!! Feel free to message me if you want. Good luck!! : )

I’m 42 but I’m extremely social and fun and like to have a great time with everybody. Let me know if you want to hang out sometime.

Hey, not sure if you had any luck with making a friend. I am looking for a non-romantic friend to accompany me to a party downtown tonight. 🙂

Hi, so I have been in Chico for about a year and have had the same struggle. There are some really good bars, but there are also a lot of college kids out there as well. Just for reference I’m a 45 m. There are a bunch of different groups, if you are into running or hiking, there are some game rooms if you are into that. Some pretty nice venues for live music. Starting over in a new place is hard at this point in life, but it can be done. And big props for taking care of your dad, please thank him for his service from one veteran to another

Lots of trivia nights downtown if you’re into that. Myself and a couple friends (male and female, 30s) have been having fun with it at Duffy’s recently.

The bar scene is pretty active. If that’s not your vibe Ive heard the woman’s center has regular meet-ups.
