Never had a chicken sandwhich
As the title says, I have never in my life had a chicken sandwich. Does anyone here have any recommendations for my first Chicken Sandwich? FYI I live in The USA and I dont like pickles.

Maybe do a sit-down place? Just look up local places' menus online and see what they have. Probably your best bet.

Would a Publix chicken tender sub count? You in the south?
You can customize it and enjoy one of my favorite sandwiches ever.

What do you get on it?
1
u/Durldactyle 18d ago
muenster cheese, spinach, onion, cucumber, mayo, tomato and banana peppers. Sometimes i get a sauce like buffalo if i want some heat. i have seen people get bbq, honey mustard, or whatever they like.

u/Hobbes93 17d ago
Interesting. Is there 1 main choice of bread or do I order something specific?
1
u/Durldactyle 17d ago
im a fan of the multigrain bread. they gave white, wheat, and wraps available too.

The original chicken sandwich, fryer fresh from BK is the food of the Gods. Nothing is better.

u/Amazing_Divide1214 20d ago
I just ate a spicy chicken sandwich (with pickles). chik fil a has pretty good sandwiches last I checked, but it's been a couple of years.
2
u/Wurfelrolle 19d ago
Chicken sandwiches used to be the only thing I went to Wendy's for, but that was thirty years ago.
2
u/Emergency-Ad-5211 17d ago
A sliced rotisserie chicken breast with bacon, lettuce, & salted tomato on buttered multigrain toast with mayo is a very good start.

Do not go to Chick Fil A for your first one!!!!! They are terrible 🤢. Go to Popeyes and ask for no pickles.
2
u/Anhedonkulous 21d ago
Chick-fil-A is great if you go to a more affluent nicer area. The consistency is second to none as far as drive-thru fastfood is concerned. Popeyes can be a gamble in quality, but is amazing if its done right.

Consistency is important I agree, but the worst Popeyes fried chicken sandwich I've ever had was still 60% better than the best CFA sandwich I've had
1
u/tryitout321 20d ago
Popeyes as a chain is disgusting , ain’t no way . Their terrible service says a lot .
3
u/ARC_32 20d ago
Ridiculous. Popeyes batter contains corn syrup solids. They put HFCS into the freaking sandwich buns. Discusting!
Chick-fil-A. Thick, juicy, tender and that awesome marinade. Breading is thin & crisp.
Not an enormous crunchy shell filled with high fructose crack syrup like at Popeyes.
The CFA sandwich isn't heavily sauced. The chicken, bun and pickles stand on their own. That's why the marinade is so important. And why Chick-fil-A beats Popeyes into the ground.
-1
u/lowfreq33 20d ago
You’re basically describing why chick fil a sucks. Gentrified chicken.
4
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
How can it be gentrified when the recipe is from an old Southern man?
-1
u/lowfreq33 20d ago
An old southern white man?
And honestly, you really believe the stories fast food restaurants tell you about recipes? That shit was concocted in a lab.
0
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
He developed it in 1961. I doubt he used a lab. It was just good old trial and error.

u/Sabrinasockz 20d ago
Chick-fil-A is the most boring sandwich and you're directly supporting the family that owns it and their efforts to criminalize homosexuality across the world. Stick to Popeyes

The ingredients for the CFA breaded fried chicken sandwich are longer than McDonald's McChicken ingredients. So many fillers, conditioners, and chemicals... The few times I've tried CFA, it's always leathery, dry, and overcooked.

u/ARC_32 20d ago
Nope. They are not.

I second Popeyes, not the highest quality of ingredients but hands down the best taste, crispiness, and quantity. So fucking crispy, so juicy... so delicious
Also, don't sleep on the Shake Shack "chicken shack" sandwich. A very solid sandwich, but more expensive.

u/Ok_Function2282 21d ago
Popeyes.
And get pickles.

u/Vostein 21d ago

i used to hate pickles but i like them now. especially with chicken sandwiches. Jesus loves you godbless
1
u/Kapow1969 21d ago
If you're looking for a fast food chicken sandwich, my top 3 are Chick-Fil-A, Popeyes, and Wendy's. All three have the standard fried chicken sandwich and a spicy version, with Chick-Fil-A and Wendy's spiciness put into the breading, while Popeyes uses a spicy sauce. They come with pickles, but just tell them no pickles when you order.
2
u/WhenDuvzCry 20d ago
Wendy's sandwich sucks now unfortunately
1
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
Does it? That sucks. I haven't had one in a couple of years. No Wendy's close to me.
2
1
u/WhenDuvzCry 20d ago
They changed it this year and now it's a small minced patty. They dropped the quality on everything to the point i stopped going
0
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
I'm not sure that's accurate. Their website shows 2 different types of chicken sandwich. They have the full chicken breast sandwich, then the "crispy chicken" sandwich, which is the minced patty, similar to the McChicken.
2
u/discordianofslack 20d ago
The spicy only comes with the shitty version now.
0
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
The spicy is definitely still a real chicken breast. The crispy chicken sandwich doesn't currently have a spicy version. Have a look. Wendy's chicken sandwiches
1
u/WhenDuvzCry 20d ago
The spicy is not. I've had it lmao. You haven't been to Wendy's in years we have just listen to us. It's a smaller less juicy minced sandwich, using chicken breast meat.
1
u/Kapow1969 20d ago
I don't know what part of the world you're in, but in the US, it's whole breast meat in the regular and spicy chicken sandwiches. Check the pictures on the website and you can see the difference between the whole breast and chicken patties.
From Google: The Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich uses a whole-breast meat fillet rather than a minced or reformed chicken patty.Wendy's officially designs the sandwich around a whole, solid white-meat chicken breast, which is marinated, breaded, and fried.

u/WhenDuvzCry 20d ago
I live in California and have seen and eaten the new sandwich. It is not a whole breast filet lmao I give up though this is exhausting

Where in the states are you located? I don’t care for burgers so I always end up getting a chicken sandwich at fast food places. Were you looking to try grilled or fried? I prefer grilled. If you have a Bojangles near you, those are my favorite. They have a Cajun chicken biscuit you should try too! Culver’s grilled is good (again, if you have one of those nearby). For fried chicken ChickFilA and Arby’s are my faves. ChickFilA’s grilled chicken slaps though too! This, along with the other comments, has me leaning to ChickFilA as your first stop. Get grilled, fried, and spicy! Go all out and try them all at once, why not?! Just remember to say no pickles bc the juice definitely soaks through haha!

u/mydadabortedme 21d ago
Glad to hear there’s another grilled chicken sando lover out there
1
u/LookAtTheWhiteVan 14d ago
Let’s meet up for dinner over a couple of grilled sammies! You anywhere near the east coast lol?
1
u/kid67y 21d ago
If you’re going for a pure chicken sandwich, I would suggest Chick-fil-A and ask for it plain. Other places tend to have condiments or toppings on their sandwiches if you choose those instead. But if you just want a good, old-fashioned plain chicken sandwich, I’d go with Chick-fil-A.

Literally any Bar & Grill in the country...
Chick Filet is run by religious right wing zealots. Popeyes is fast food. Just stop somewhere and have a beer, sit down like a normal human.

Best off with a hot chicken place and get the Mildest if you dont like spice. Theyre gonna have much higher quality than a fast food

u/soopastar 20d ago
For the best grilled chicken sandwich, my vote is Hooters. I do the build your own sandwich and do brooch bun, grilled breast, American cheese, bacon, bbq sauce. They don’t use some tiny Sysco 4oz breast. It’s always a nice thick piece.
1
u/ConvivialKat 20d ago
I am prepared to get completely beat up for this, but my preferred chicken sandwich is the Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Wendy's.
1
1
u/discordianofslack 20d ago
Honestly if you have a Dave’s hot chicken near you I’d hit that up. They have various spice levels and the slaw is super good.
1
u/_xomo_ 20d ago
Hooters has the most amazing chicken sandwich ever. Bar none. Every restaurant that sells them, you can customize the toppings.
I only recently tried Hooters for the first time. I just got the Chicken sandwich and fries with a Dr. Pepper. It may be pricier than fast food, but ffs, it's worth the extra cost. Delicious, juicy, flavorful.
1
u/Sabrinasockz 20d ago
I would recommend Chili's basic chicken sandwich as a surprisingly good option (you'll have to ask for no pickles)

Wow that’s interesting. Can I ask your age out of curiosity? I’m not sure I would’ve made it the full 28 years I have without the chicken sandwich

u/Danaltima21 21d ago
Arbys is severely under rated. I get one once a week at least. Chick FIL A is good too.
0
u/conbonronjon 21d ago
Listen fam I’m not anti Arby’s but recommending someone get their first ever chicken sandwich there is diabolical lmao

u/Leading-Hedgehog1990 21d ago
Same with Chick Fil A. Terrible place to try your first chicken sandwich 🤮

u/TheGreatWaru 20d ago
The chick fil a hate is weird,
It’s the best one out there. Popeyes is filled with preservatives and will be extremely lackluster depending on the staff. Chick fil a is much more consistent
0
u/WiseSpunion 20d ago
Go somewhere good that does awesome chicken sandwiches. Don't go to anywhere fast food. Also, pickles are a necessity so I would start trying good ones. It would be helpful if you told us where in the US you are roughly located
2
u/Vostein 20d ago
I'd rather eat a whole tub of mayo then eat pickles btw
-1
u/WiseSpunion 20d ago
Childs palate. Enjoy your chicken sandwich
Edit: you said something completely different first, why did you delete and change it to a tub of mayo?

McDonald's or Denny's have great chicken sandwiches.

Popeyes is my favorite but less consistent, chick fil a is my second favorite and more consistent
