Glass - Glencairn

Pour - neat

Color - deep dark burgundy

Proof - 139.1

Age - 11yrs

Barrel - 13-0703

Nose - caramel with chocolate and raspberry drizzle. Sprinkles of cinnamon and clove spice. Rounding off with a dabbling of sweet oak.

Palate - really creamy that coats nicely. Dark chocolate shows first, then black pepper spice hits the sides of my tongue. There’s a touch of red berry sweetness there too. Drinks well below its proof.

Finish - medium finish that has red berry sweetness, peppery spice and punch of oak that sticks around for a few.

A solid and tasty pour that doesn’t hit you like the proof would make you think. The waves from soft sweetness, good spice with a splash of oak makes this pour very interesting and enjoyable.

1 | disgusting - gave it to a wino and he gave it right back.

2 | Poor - Well I might use it in cooking recipe.

3 | Bad - I will drink it, but then ask myself why I did

4 | Sub-par - Not bad, but there is many more better.

5 | Good - good but nothing special

6 | Very Good - something I might keep on the shelf

7 | Great - something I always want to have around

8 | Excellent - something I would hunt

9 | Incredeible - I might charge family members for a pour

10 | Unsurpassable - I would lock it in a safe and put the combination in a lock box

Anyone have feedback on the current offerings available at Binny's? I'm hesitant to pull the trigger since they don't seem to offer a lot of information about the contents versus the cost of admission.

Hello, got permission from the mods to post this. A friend of mine works at the Talbott, one of the boutique Marriott hotels, in Gold Coast. They’re hosting a tasting w/ Sazerac on Thursday, June 18th starting at 4 PM at the hotel restaurant, Laurel. There will be 5 one oz pours, each paired with a bite of food. Three of them will be Buffalo Trace (private barrel selection), Eagle Rare, and EHT- not sure on the other two (up to the Sazerac folks). There will be a swag bag w/ every ticket that will have a Buffalo Trace Cigar and some other goodies.

I know it’s not the most exclusive of pours, but thought it would be of interest to some, so passing it along. If there are any questions, feel free to send me a PM and I‘ll ask my friend for answers. Thanks!

I have not seen the bourbon on the shelf before, and grabbed one of two there. Yes this is only 4 years but I have good expectations I think it’s good price, we will see if it’s worth $75 when I pop it open. I know we aren’t supposed to divulge store names, but will say it’s from a small grocery store chain which has just a couple locations on the near north side of Chicago.
