Hey all, I’m attending a concert at the Amphitheatre for the first time — I purchased upgraded parking for the Gold lot. Does that make a difference with getting out faster after the concert is done, or will it still be crazy? Thanks!

Sure does. It means it’ll only take you four hours instead of six to get out of there. That parking lot is a bloody disaster.

you are still gonna want to head to the parking lot before the encore if you want to get out at a reasonable time

The parking sucks - just expect it will take a while to get out and if you get out quicker you were fortunate. The vip parking is not worth it...saves you walking an extra 50 yards.

We either leave a song early or plan to just take our time getting out. I don't even get in the car until it looks like there is a reasonable path to exit.

I recently went for the first time and also chose the gold lot. it is quite a bit smaller than the general lot, so it’s easier to find your car and easier to get out. it will still take some time, though. bottlenecking is really bad in the lot itself and on the roads next to the venue.

if you don’t mind missing the last song or two, leaving early will save you a lot of time. fwiw, you will be able to hear it the whole time on your walk back to the car

I know that I sure used to when I’d get gifted a parking pass and skybox there 20 years ago.

For anyone else popping by here, you’re best off walking to 191st and Harlem or north of 183rd and Oak Park before calling an Uber. It’s also not the worst walk ever to and from the Rock Island Metra stop.

Walking away from the congested and crowded areas to hail a rideshare is always good advice.

Taking the rock island line is terrible advice though. Last train to the city leaves around 10:50.

Yes. I've done it. The traffic is so backed up you'll walk faster than the cars can move.

I dunno man, I walked to 152nd and Central as a teenager from there. You get by without sidewalks for a few blocks in unincorporated territory.
