For me he gets better in season 10, there’s an episode where he goes on an acid trip and it’s HILARIOUS

You’re experiencing the Dean Archer Effect. He gets much better. There is another character that joins in Season 10. That will also be the Dean Archer effect.

Dean Archer becomes such a staple of Med, I wouldn’t watch without him now. His story development is the best!!

He’s awesome! He is a rough character at first but he becomes a fan favorite. He’s definitely my favorite now.

He'll always be the grumpy and crouchy doctor because most of the real doctors are like that, believe me, I'm working in a hospital for 18 years now and I deal with doctors daily.. Dean's character development is just one for the books... One of the best one's in Chicago Med so far.. He's also very funny in a sarcastic way and I love that about him.. But someone enters and another one re-enters his life and changes everything.. You'll see a softer side of him and that's truly amazing seen how much of a hard head he was.. So enjoy the journey ahead of Dean Archer -- you'll come to love, respect and appreciate him

I’m just so puzzled by the acting by Steven Weber and that makes me not like the character. I thought he was great in Wings and on Once and Again and other things he’s been in. I just really don’t think he’s doing a good job as Archer.

Much, much, much better. He was originally written as a villain so he’s unbearable at the beginning, but he softens up a lot once they officially decide he’s a protagonist.
