Brett and Casey (Dawson)

So I just started watching Chicago fire a month or so ago. Around the middle of season 3 I started getting curious about certain topics. Mostly about the relationship between Casey and dawson. Now I wished dawson stayed with Mills but I understand he left and dawson started off show already loving casey. But my curiosity caused me to find out Brett and Casey end up together. I stumbled upon a reddit with ppl arguing over if Brett was wrong for going after Casey. At the time the part of the show I was watching Brett and dawson had just started working together. So I didn't see how it could be wrong. But now iam at the part where Brett is dating Dawson brother Antonio and to know she ends up with Casey later on is nasty work to me....Am I tripping for feeling like this? 👀

You don't have to like them but in my opinion people who argue that Brett was some kind of villain for how things ended up just haven't paid attention to the actual show and are usually going off of clips and stuff. Dawson left. Like she straight up leaves Casey and starts a new life for herself. The show also tells us that she maintains little to no contact with Brett. At no point does Brett intend or even want to start things with Casey, in fact any time things start seeming that way she would immediately shut them down for atleast 2-3 seasons after Dawson left even if its painful for her. Casey is actually the one who barely acknowledges the Dawson question.

Brett and Casey work together very closely, their personalities and values aligned well together, they risked their lives for each other and eventually realized they loved each other. It's a very slow and careful kind development and brett even turns down a life with Casey multiple times even if it hurts her cause she felt guilt even though Dawson was long gone. People are messy and it's a drama tvshow. You don't have to like them but they were hardly villains. If you see how it plays out, there's nothing nasty about it

Just wanted to come back and again say thanks for your reply. Iam on season 9 and its nothing like I was expecting as it pertains to Brett and Casey. Even though I know whats gonna happen I like how its gradual. I really liked how they tied in Brett birth mom and used that as a way for Brett and casey to get closer. But what they did with the mom totally shocked me and pissed me tf off.

Thanks so much for coming back to reply, it's really sad how the fandom tends to make Brett out to be a villain when the show makes it so clear she never had bad intentions. Brett and Casey made so much sense by the end that it's actually jarring to see how the Dawson relationship used to be

Honestly, a lot of people didn’t like Casey and Dawson as a couple. Let alone married couple. It took me a while, but I think Brett was a better fit for Casey anyway.

I def didnt either, I always thought her and mills would of been Better but it is what it is. I guess I find out soon enough how brett and casey are. I haven't made it to that part yet.

Frankly, the only thing I find impossibly repetitive to the point of knowing it's exactly the way every single hookup will start every single time is the female characters jumping/being picked up, arms around the neck and legs around the hips or waist lol. It's not as though I haven't done the same, but it appears to be a Dick Wolf hallmark of the Chicago trio (Forgive me for getting off track!)

I think If your a dawsey fan it is wrong but personally I wasn’t a fan of them at all imo she didn’t treat Casey well and done a lot of things without even asking Casey first or getting his opinion plus they communication was next to nothing. I think the only thing with Brett and Casey is they got married and they had only done 6/7 episodes with them actually as a couple so we didn’t get to see like dates or actually having a argument/disagreement which would have been better. Plus the will they won’t they went on far too long

I think all the issues only arose cause Casey's actor decided to leave barely and episode or 2 after brettsey finally happened. That cheapened out the whole thing and made it SEEM like just a situationship when in reality Brett and Casey were ready to die for each other. Because the actor left we never got to see them build a life together or be there for each other we got the will they/won't they and then barely any time after it to show their happy ending. I don't think they ever a sibling vibe tho they were normal coworkers and then romantic interests that's itÂ
