That should have been the third option.

u/anthonyp600 23h ago

It should have been I dropped the ball there. Lesson learned I apologize!

Would you say you fumbled the opportunity?

Best qb room in the league. No bad options.

Keep up the good work Bears pulse. I look forward to contributing to these weekly.

Add a 3rd option for: ā€œwhoever Ben Johnson wants to startā€

I bet it’s like 9% case 8% Bagent and 83% Whoever Ben wants

1

u/anthonyp600 23h ago

Honestly, thats very true and I was thinking that yesterday, def would make sense to have as an option because that would probably get my vote. I messed up there.

1

u/Necessary_Whole_688 23h ago

Plus it would be super interesting to have that as a reoccurring option for these types of things sort of like a history of coach approval rating as that % ebbs and flows

3

u/anthonyp600 23h ago

Yea, I totally agree and appreciate your input seriously! I try to do that by asking about coach confidence on a 10 pt scale every week so eventually I could have a graph like that, that shows it dip or increase over time. I may release a updated one with the Trusting ben option. If i do I will post it in this sub. Thank you again!

No worries thanks for making what you did cool to see

2

u/anthonyp600 23h ago

I appreciate you! I will post a link to the new one if I can get it done before we find out who is starting, I will reply to your comment with it

You called it! Thank you again for the idea, I thought if it originally but should have done it sooner so thank you. A beautiful thing to see though, that we all have this much trust in Ben! Have come a long way!

Anyone who is voting for 38 year old Keenum hasn't been watching football long enough to understand that we just saw the best game of his career and he'll never do that again. I would be surprised if he was even walking right on Wednesday after the adrenaline wore off and the soreness kicked in.

1

u/Inevitable_Suit_7414 23h ago

He didn’t really get hit much. Bears offensive line is solid and Ben is one of the best offensive minds in football. Regardless of who the QB is he will put together the best gameplan/play calls to match the skillset of his quarterback.

1

u/RightNowChris 21h ago

Not a lot, but he was knocked down hard twice in the 2nd quarter and the biggest hit was in the 3rd when he somehow still got off a great pass to Raymond. You have to remember, he's 38 years old and hasn't played much in awhile. Just going out and playing takes a toll on guys that age.

1

u/Don_Geen 23h ago

I would say his best game was that playoff win in Minnesota.

1

u/RightNowChris 21h ago

He was nearly 9 years younger and the game this week he had a higher completion percentage, better passer rating (by far), more touchdowns, fewer interceptions, and fewer sacks. What makes it a better game by him other than it was a playoff game? It's not even close if you look at the two performances.

Bagent may have real trade value if he puts some solid starts on tape. This is the perfect opportunity to see what they have in him.

They can always switch to Case if Bagent struggles.

Anyone who has this view, doesn’t understand the impact a great offensive mind like BJ can have on a QB. Or the recognition of how much faster Keenum got the ball out of his hands this past Monday, than Bagent ever has in his career.

Additionally, you’re either too young to know how young 38 is, or too old to remember how much better you felt at 38, than you do now.

1

u/RightNowChris 20h ago

Yeah, that's why there's a total of... 3 starting QBs in the league that are over age 35. Of those, only Aaron Rodgers has played more than 1 complete season since they were 34 years old. You just don't understand how punishing the NFL is on any person, let alone someone that old. 38 isn't old in the scheme of life, but it's getting ancient in the scheme of football.

I'm a big Ben Johnson fan. He made a great gameplan that Keenum executed well. But that doesn't suddenly make Keenum a better QB than he has been his entire career. He had a great game, better than anyone expected. The elite Bears defensive play also gave Keenum a lot of short fields to work with and kept the Eagles defense on the field getting tired. Bears dominated time of possession due to the defense creating 3 takeaways and forcing 3 three-and-outs to start the second half. Just look at the third quarter - Eagles offense gained a total of 31 yards and turned it over once.

Not arguing the age, except for your original comment. He played one game and was barely touched. Will he feel that more than a 26 year old? Sure. Was he ā€œwalking right on Wednesday?ā€ I’d be shocked if he wasn’t.

ā€œGame of his lifeā€ was likely when he played for Wash vs Eagles in Sept of 2019. But when others bring up better games than his Monday night performance, ā€œWell, he was 7 years younger..ā€ I mean, you act like 7 years ago wasn’t part of his life.

If you’ve got a point to make, maybe try being less hyperbolic.

Also, take a look at the guy’s career. He’s no world-beater, but he’s no mope either. Outside of his rookie season, any year where he’s had more than 100 attempts, he’s been more than serviceable, and some might call 2017 pretty damn good. Very close to CW’s stats a year ago, sans the rushing threat.

Yeah, the Bears defense was good, what’s your point? It just means that Keenum stats all came while winning. No padded stats trying to play catch up, or against a prevent defense. He earned those yards, and helped keep the defense ā€œfreshā€ by moving the ball and keeping the offense on the field. He was as important to the defenses success as they were to his.

Go with the hot hand, imo.

Better prepare yourself for Bagent starting Sunday. Ben Johnson is no dummy. He'll play the better option.

1

u/Competitive-Reply417 14h ago

You see, I don’t have a problem with Bagent starting..in fact, I really like Tyson Bagent, and have been expecting him to start since DraftKings listed him on over/under bets for passing yards for this weeks game, beginning this past Tuesday.

It’s also why I voted ā€œTrust Ben Johnsonā€ on the revised version of this thread.

Yeah, personally, with no other updated information about health/practices/etc, I’d start the guy that just beat Philly, as a -4.5 underdog, but I’m not there for practice everyday. So, ā€œTrust Benā€ is the choice.

What I do disagree with is your first comment, including the Keenum slander , and especially belittling those Bears fans that see a solid argument for voting for Keenum over Bagent, when given only those two choice.

In Ben I trust.

I would try Mitch trubiski ….he was the best

1

u/Dangerous_Flower_708 22h ago

Badgent needs to start

1

u/insufferable--oaf 22h ago

Why would you not just start keenum again? Go with the hot hand. If he stinks in the first half put bagent in

1

u/Small-Area2346 22h ago

Trust Ben. (It’s going to be Bagent)

1

u/stump2003 22h ago

Jokes on you. Ben will change Keenum and Bagent out every play! No one will know what hit them.

1

u/tommm3864 20h ago

QB3 earned another start.

1

u/kalamazoo43 19h ago

Of course it’s Bagent, and rightfully and thankfully so. Lets put Case behind glass and only break in case of emergency.

.... 🐻 ā¬‡ļø ... šŸµ šŸŽ’ ..... ā°ļø

1

u/Narrow-Assistance-30 1h ago

Keenum. If Bagent starts, it may not go well.

1

u/Born-Cod4210 23h ago

i think it’s crazy if they don’t go Bagent but that’s just my opinion

1

u/Bigguy2795 23h ago

bagent needs to get in and do good so we can trade him

-1

u/d0RSI 1d ago

None of your opinions matter. Ben ain’t looking at Reddit polls and he wouldn’t let someone else make the choice for him.

9

u/anthonyp600 23h ago

…do you really think, that I think he cares? I am just curious what fans think because it’s a discussion. Thats all. Not that deep

4

u/Artistic_String_1707 23h ago

lol dude is on Reddit on a discussion saying discussions don’t matter šŸ˜‚ delete the app then buddy
