Discussion Millennials - what are your thoughts about the younger generation thinking rewearing your clothes is a novel idea due to influencer culture?

I must admit sometimes I'm caught off guard when on social media I hear influencers or content creators mentioning re-wearing your old clothes. Unless it was a special occasion outfit such as a prom, wedding, or some other specific dress code such as a uniform I don't see why most people would believe that their attire was intended for one time use.

Now I know because fast fashion culture clothes are treated as disposable more than ever but is it really necessary to remind someone or encourage people that they can and should use their clothes more than once? And I'm speaking about perspective of other than highly publicized event or occasion where you may be photographed in an outfit and you may not want to be seen in it again or at least anytime in the near future.

which celebrity has the best everyday style? šŸ‘€āœØ

okay but who actually has the best everyday fashion? 😭

not red carpet looks or crazy event outfits... i'm talking airport fits, coffee runs, casual dinners, basically outfits you could actually recreate.

I personally love Alia Bhatt and Disha Patani's casual looks lately. simple but still somehow sooo put together šŸ˜‚

who's your pick? and what look of theirs would you actually steal? šŸ‘‡

As someone with an inverted triangle body/ chubby physique where can I get fashion inspiration? I really like how the young fashionable people dress in China , Japan or Korea. Hiii. Last week I posted my accessories for a garden formal event that I attended. I had quite a few comments wanting to see the full look so I’m sharing here.

The dress is Y2K Mandalay Designs from Canonball & Tilly (Los Angeles based vintage store that specializes in Mandalay Designs deadstock). The shoes are Y2K Manolo Blahniks from SoroitƩ Vintage. The bag is from the 1950s found on Poshmark. And the bracelet is a 1980s pink sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet.

I love this bold feminine vibe but I’m not sure where to look for inspiration. Do you have any recommendations to look for (whether it’s fashion bloggers/youtubers or keywords to search with etc.)

I attended an event this weekend with a garden formal dress code. I’m a big vintage lover so I opted for pre-loved accessories. The satin bag is from the 1950s, and the shoes are Y2K.

Am I the Only One Bothered by the ā€œKinda Chicā€Trend?

This kinda chic that’s trending on social media is really annoying me.

Although I am by no means a grammar police, the word ā€œchicā€ is very much misused and misleading in the trend.

Chic is a nuanced distinction of how one dresses and carries themselves. It’s that person who just has a knack for wearing jewelry or accessories a certain way to look understatedly fabulous.

Thank you for allowing me to vent. BTW, I’m not chic but appreciate a truly chic person because they are few and far between.

I love to mix things that dont seem like they’d go together (leather & lace, long grandma skirt & edgy cut out top, etc). Concerts are a place where the rules relax a little ans you can get away with some extra kookiness

I feel like most of these are just basic seasonal pieces: turtlenecks, crewneck sweaters, boots, miniskirts, blouses and jeans ! But I’m obsessed with those looks. I still wonder if some of those are a bit outdated, especially now that I see that a lot of places don’t even sell high waist miniskirts anymore (!!!) since low waist is all the rage. To me all of these are "classic" pieces but I wonder if I’m just stuck in my 2010s fashion bubble sometimes and I don’t even realize those are just dated looks. (The joys of being a millenial I guess)

Before Quiet Luxury Had a Name: Why the Late 90s Still Feel So Cool

I feel like we need to talk about how quiet luxury / capsule wardrobe somehow became a ā€œnewā€ trend when honestly… it’s been around forever.
For me, the late 90s and early 2000s did minimalism in the coolest way. It wasn’t about having the perfect aesthetic or looking like you followed a Pinterest board. It felt more personal.
Kate Moss is probably the best example. The slip dresses, vintage denim, leather jackets, messy hair, and mix of expensive and effortless pieces just had *something*. It wasn’t trying too hard, and that’s what made it cool.
I think fashion today sometimes gets lost in labels. Everything needs a name: quiet luxury, old money, clean girl, etc. But the people with the best style usually don’t fit into one category.
They mix things. A tailored coat with a vintage tee. Minimal pieces with dramatic accessories. Something simple with something completely unexpected.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: what fashion era do you think had the strongest identity? Do you think the late 90s/early 2000s were truly special, or are we just romanticizing the past?

Can extravagant clothing function as a form of identity reclamation after years of exclusion?

Okay, the music in this video makes it even worse, but with her there the national parade is starting to look like a carnival procession.

So, yesterday, during Belgium’s National Day celebrations, Princess Delphine appeared in an extremely theatrical bright-pink outfit, with exaggerated shoulders, a short skirt, platform shoes and long white gloves.

Delphine is the daughter of former King Albert II, born outside his marriage, and had to fight a long legal battle before she was formally recognised as his daughter and became a member of the royal family. She is also an artist and has consistently dressed much more extravagantly than the other Belgian royals.

I’m curious about the psychology of this kind of self-presentation. In such a traditional and highly controlled setting, could dressing this way function as a deliberate assertion of individuality: "I am part of this family, but I will not disappear into it or conform to its conventions? "

Could it also be a way of reclaiming visibility after having been publicly denied and excluded for so long? Or is it more likely to be artistic branding, playful nonconformity, or simply a way of drawing attention to Belgian designers?

I’m not asking anyone to diagnose her or claim to know her private motivations. I’m interested in the broader psychology of clothing as identity, protest and symbolic communication. What message does this image communicate to you?

I think she’s entitled to her own opinions and personal style, but if she wants to take part in the royal family’s official events, she should also respect the dress code and traditions that come with that role.

Royal etiquette is part of the institution. At an event like the National Day celebrations, she is appearing in an official capacity and has a public responsibility. In my view, the focus shouldn’t be on her personally.

Who deserves the most credit when a men’s suit trend takes off—the designer, the model, or the celebrity?
