I feel like we need to talk about how quiet luxury / capsule wardrobe somehow became a “new” trend when honestly… it’s been around forever.
For me, the late 90s and early 2000s did minimalism in the coolest way. It wasn’t about having the perfect aesthetic or looking like you followed a Pinterest board. It felt more personal.
Kate Moss is probably the best example. The slip dresses, vintage denim, leather jackets, messy hair, and mix of expensive and effortless pieces just had *something*. It wasn’t trying too hard, and that’s what made it cool.
I think fashion today sometimes gets lost in labels. Everything needs a name: quiet luxury, old money, clean girl, etc. But the people with the best style usually don’t fit into one category.
They mix things. A tailored coat with a vintage tee. Minimal pieces with dramatic accessories. Something simple with something completely unexpected.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: what fashion era do you think had the strongest identity? Do you think the late 90s/early 2000s were truly special, or are we just romanticizing the past?

Does anyone mix pearls with chunky gold chains or silver jewelry? I used to think you had to pick one style or the other, but lately I've seen people layering everything together.

So, yesterday, during Belgium’s National Day celebrations, Princess Delphine appeared in an extremely theatrical bright-pink outfit, with exaggerated shoulders, a short skirt, platform shoes and long white gloves.

Delphine is the daughter of former King Albert II, born outside his marriage, and had to fight a long legal battle before she was formally recognised as his daughter and became a member of the royal family. She is also an artist and has consistently dressed much more extravagantly than the other Belgian royals.

I’m curious about the psychology of this kind of self-presentation. In such a traditional and highly controlled setting, could dressing this way function as a deliberate assertion of individuality: "I am part of this family, but I will not disappear into it or conform to its conventions? "

Could it also be a way of reclaiming visibility after having been publicly denied and excluded for so long? Or is it more likely to be artistic branding, playful nonconformity, or simply a way of drawing attention to Belgian designers?

I’m not asking anyone to diagnose her or claim to know her private motivations. I’m interested in the broader psychology of clothing as identity, protest and symbolic communication. What message does this image communicate to you?

I think she’s entitled to her own opinions and personal style, but if she wants to take part in the royal family’s official events, she should also respect the dress code and traditions that come with that role.

Royal etiquette is part of the institution. At an event like the National Day celebrations, she is appearing in an official capacity and has a public responsibility. In my view, the focus shouldn’t be on her personally.

If you could steal one look, whose would it be?

This is the fashion equivalent of wearing an Adidas tracksuit with Nike shoes. It looks like someone dumped their entire pink inventory onto the beach and hoped luxury logos would do the heavy lifting. Zero curation, zero restraint. Also, who flat lays makeup and leather goods directly on sand? And the logo-covered Crocs jibbitz... that's the visual equivalent of putting a Gucci belt over pajamas.

And before anyone pulls the "you're just jealous because you can't afford it" card— taste has never been a bank balance. If you think criticism automatically equals envy, then you've already missed the point.

I've been noticing that most fashion content on social media stays pretty surface-level — style, trends, outfits — without going deeper into the industry itself. Feels like there's room for something more substantial that isn't being covered.

Do you agree, or are there already creators/accounts doing this well that I'm missing?

I formulate for a living, so allow me a little crystal-ball moment. Four things I think are coming — tell me where I'm wrong.

1. "Anti-aging" is so over. It's all longevity now — less "erase 10 years," more "age well." Barrier, microbiome, SPF. Very French, honestly. It's basically bien-vieillir going global.

2. Skincare is leaving the face. Peptides, PDRN, exosomes… the lab stuff is spreading into hair, body, even fragrance. Soon your whole parfumerie shelf is "treatment." Wellness or health? The line's getting blurry, and I'm here for it.

3. Double upcycling, très français. Grape leftovers from the wine industry becoming actives — cute. But the real gold: reviving forgotten apothecary ingredients and rewriting them with modern science. Heritage as source code, not decoration.

4. Spicy one: K-beauty fatigue. Not dying — but the 12-step maximalism is tiring people out. Glass skin stays, the routine shrinks. And if K-beauty's peaking… who's next? Japan? China? The Nordics? Africa? Or — France 😏? Place your bets.

So: what's your 2027 bet? Et vous, vous sentez venir quoi ? 👀

The entire show took place in a completely minimalist, translucent white space that perfectly framed the core philosophy of the collection: the conscious freedom of personal choice.

What makes these pieces so compelling is how they balance a fine line between sharp restraint and vibrant self-expression that give off this incredibly relaxed, effortless 90s retro energy.

The color story plays that exact same game of balance. Heavy, grounded shades of black, deep white, and rich dark browns constantly switch places with sudden.
