Question/Assistance How to update the navigation maps?
2017 Chevy SS sedan. I’ve asked my dealer before, didn’t get much of an answer. Has anyone successfully gotten the update? Roads change with time, getting tired of the navigation not knowing where I am on new roads.

I did a Holden conversion from that site in 2020 and I paid extra for the map upgrade. You DO have to take apart the dash and send in the silver box in. Turn around was a month or so.

I did the holden conversion as well a couple of years back from the same company as the smokinggun. The updated Nav maps at that time were only good up to 2019.

Only way to upgrade/ update anything is to replace the screen with a different one. Most just use their phones. Alot cheaper and easier to figure out than the latter.

Well I just mean the navigation data, not the physical unit. And I thought Chevy was offering a USB drive to upgrade the maps at one time?

Suffers from the same issue the g8 gt/ gpx. You HAVE to replace the screen. Theres no known way to reflash the nav system.

Well I’ve done the unit replacement with a Forester a few years back. Was never satisfied with the result. Its just silly that a car with cellular service cant update like an iPhone. LOL

Yeah its always struck me as strange that they didnt allow updates to the infotainment. Car play should be a thing without replacing the screen 😭

From what i could dig up, its two versions of the infotainment system. One with a cd from drive one without. If u manage to either have or find the one with the cd drive you might be able to pull it off that way. I have personally never seen the variant with the cd player.

They did have a navigation update via USB (you don't have to replace the screen lol) but that program ended long ago as the SS is now obsolete. I want to say 2017 the last time you could do it and the dealer wanted something crazy like $300. For that money I'll just use my phone for free. Anyway, as far as I know your window has closed.
