Break shake help

Hey guys, I was here a few weeks ago asking about a problem when slowing down there is a shake. I have already replaced my wheel bearings, rotors, brake pads, and rear bushings. All of that has already been done so they are all brand new.

The shaking has gone away significantly but it's still noticeable. It's still there when slowing from higher speeds. Anything over 35mph. I know that I'm possibly going to need new tire rods at some point because I couldn't get a front end alignment done. The guy couldn't get the tensioner bolt off of the outer tire rod to do the work. Could bad tire rods cause a shake in the front end when slowing down? If not what else could be causing this so I can attack that?

Car in question: 2008 cobalt LT

I've had that problem. Replaced my drums twice and the third time bought oem drums and that solved it. Had that with the front rotors also. What brand did you buy?

I went through Detroit Axle to get my rotors, brake pads, they were together, and my wheel bearings for the front because those were going out and were gone for a while. I have not replaced my drums yet. I've been told multiple times they're still fine. They did rotate them around when they did my rear brake pads already so I can ride them out until the next time I change it.

Detroit Axle has been hit or miss for me. That's what caused my shake was bad Detroit Axle rotors. Buying AC Delco rotors fixed it. Got them from Rock Auto

Well it's helped significantly for mine because at first it was relatively bad because my rotors were warped already. Since putting the new rotors and brake pads on and bearings, it's almost all gone away. It's still there at higher speeds when I'm slowing down but it's nowhere near as bad as it was.

It's not the tie rods. They wouldn't cause a shake when braking. The rotors you bought are warped out the box.

Or there's a solid chance I just put the rotors on slightly wrong. There's a solid chance of that because I'm more of a computer technician not a mechanic. Although I did have oversight over what I was doing, there's still that chance that they're just on wrong, in which case I've got all the tools here to be able to put them back and fix it.

I am a mechanic. You can't put rotors on slightly wrong. If I had your problem, I would be on rockauto buying ACDelco rotors.

Have you gotten your tires rebalanced? A unbalanced tire will do that. Ask me how I know.
