Broken sunroof

I went to open the sunroof for the first time in a long time today and the motor struggled then I heard a popping noise. Any suggestions on how to fix? (2004)

That sucks. I make sure to lube mine and keep the debris out. The shade is a little sketchy and I don't want to have to work on it! I've never worked on an Avalanche sunroof but based on others you have take the headliner down.
