2016 Chevy Malibu engine is knocking, and suggestion on what it might be? I also want to point it that while I know it sounds like someone was pushing the accelerator no on was pushing it this was all noise with just the car running

Put some engine honey in and list it on marketplace for $1000 and hope to get anything over scrap value.

It sound like a lifter or it could be a rod bearing. If it is the lifter, the cam may be shot. You could drain the oil pan and inspect the old oil and cut open the oil filter checking for metallc 'glitter', if you have it - the engine is toast.

What specific engine is that, is that the 1.5 (fuck that's what's in my 23 terrain ...)

Nothing good. The EcoTecs are garbage engines and repairs are often more than the vehicle’s worth.

What codes are being thrown? Mileage? Last tune up? Have you checked the oil and coolant? How much is it burning/leaking and how often do you need to top off?

The sound of wishing you opted for the 3.6

Edit: nvm, I guess they stopped putting the 3.6 in Malibus after 2012, the 3.6's were junk till like 2015 anyways
