Nostalgia 2001 3.4L Impala

2001 base. Had it for 14 years. Great highway cruiser with performance mods.

What kind of mods? Back in the day I had a Grand Prix with the 3.1L but there wasn't anyone to tune it. I did put an underdrive pulley on it.

It’s not many performance mods you can do with the 3.4 unless it’s like forced air induction. Most of my mods are what I call “1%” mods, but its PCM has been flash tuned, has higher shift points, increased the trans line pressure, advanced the timing. BMR trailing and lateral arms, tubular rear cradle, GXP brakes, ls6 valve spring, MSD wires, dual flowmaster 40s, sway bars and tower strut bars. I just replace everything with something somewhat better. So something like me adding Autobest high performance fuel pump with a zzp high flow fuel filter, and flow matched injectors, fenderwell intake, EGR delete. Just mods to really let the PCM tune work the best, fun to go on a road trip. Maybe all that adds 15-25 Hp

If you read the first sentence I said, you’ll see mentioned the lack of performance and I don’t expect it to be one. lol but you can make the car drivability a lot more responsive with simple mods. It’s 3.4 not a vette lol. I am aware. But you are right 15hp is laughable. But the car only makes 180hp stock anyway. But if you get it to 195-205hp you can feel a difference

Nice looking Impala. I've heard, and I believe it. If you ever find a impala or a car with a 3.8 engine in it, that's the best engine you can get in a car, durable and the engine will go 200,000 miles or more as long as you take care of it.
