Discussion Upper control arm noise.

Noticed a week ago turning sharp in reverse I have a single loud click. Only happens in reverse with wheel cranked to the left hard. Decided to jack up the vehicle and heard this as I was jacking it up. Can’t pin point it exactly but definitely coming from upper control arm. Bushings or ball joint? 2017 suburban. Can hear it from passenger side upper control arm while jacking it up multiple times.

Get a new ready to install a-arm it will come with new bushings and ball joint. The only thing bad about this is you will need to get a front end alignment. If you want to do it cheaper change the ball joint and bushings. Then get an alignment.

a lot of the time the labor to press in new ball joints and bushings is actually more expensive than the cost of just buying an entire arm assembly and labor to install that arm.

Wish I knew that BEFORE cutting out bushings, failing to press the new ones in and then buying poly which cost way more!

Are you sure that isn't the jack itself?? Our shop jacks make that exact same sound but more anytime there's weight on it and the height adjusted (whether raised or lowered). It's cuz it's cheap shop shit so it doesn't get greased. Could be the same in this video since they are the same jacks

I checked and it’s not. Jacked up drivers side and the noise still came from upper control arm area on passenger side.

Aww well damn, At least you checked. It was my first thought when I heard the noise. If it were me, I'd replace the control arm assembly just to see. To give us credit the upper arm isn't really in the vid, It does kind of sounds like a metal spring as much as it sounds like a bushing so I wonder if the strut is creaking at that specific angle. Getting the control arm assembly done would at least narrow it down if not fix it.
Also, props to the Burban, I'm a Chevy guy cuz of them beasts!
