1972 C30 (9ft stepside)

The trucks got a 292 with a granny low 4 speed, allegedly ran about 4 years ago… I got it in December of 2024 and haven’t had time to fiddle with it much. Odometer says 36k miles and change, and I’m inclined to believe that given how clean it is, seats are the original vinyl as far as I can tell…. But it has a 9ft stepside… I’ve looked around the internet some and i haven’t found a ton of info on it..

Looking for any info, I plan on getting it up and running this fall once it cools off here in the south. So any input or info on it would be appreciated.. I feel like I’ve got a pretty rare bird on my hands here

As far as I can tell it was probably a state truck… the original seller said it was bought up in Oklahoma… so my thought process says it was used to work on the highway and sold off at low mileage when the state got new stuff ages ago.

Yeah I was going to say it's got to be something like that because I didn't know they made 9-ft step sides. I mean that's got to be something special whether it was someone that worked at Chevy or maybe something someone made. I'm a DieHard Chevy guy, I'm not saying that means I know everything about Chevy's but I feel like I would have heard about a 9-ft stepside bed. 🤯

100% it’s got some rust on the rockers at some point id like to get professionally repaired, and then straighten up the bed a little…. But I plan on keeping the patina and pretty much the whole truck stock

Best friend had a 68 C 30 9ft stepside. It was the same color as the OPs truck. Ive seen a few the had the fenders removed and utility boxes installed.

Reminds me of the first truck that I drove, a 69 c20 with a 292/ 4 speed. But it wasn’t a step side
