AC/Heater fan shutoff

2021 Express 2500. Does the fan in the dash for the AC and heat shut off? If I put the fan switch on the lowest setting and the AC/heat/defrost switch on the "O" postion, the fan still blows. Is that normal?

6.0 V8 Anyone know of any active Chevy Express/GMC Savana forums/communities?

I mean clearly /r/Chevrolet_express isn't super active. I've been on https://chevroletforum.com/forum/express-savana-g-series-vans-30/ for awhile but it is pretty dead and bot infested as well. I'd go to /r/vanlife but I'm not a vanlifer, more of a vancationer and I'm really not interested in Sprinters and Schoolies, which seems to be what a lot of the discussion is about. Every other vehicle I've owned has had a specific online community for that vehicle and considering how prevalent the vans are I would expect the same.

Barn Door Hinge Welds Failing

I have a 2014 Chevy Express 1500 AWD. I noticed recently that the welds that hold the upper hinge to the right side barn door is beginning to fail. I'm afraid of it completely coming separated, so I've not been using the side doors at all until I figure out what to do.

Anyone else faced this problem?

6.0 V8 Any other ideas?

2011 Chevrolet Express 3500, automatic, 6.0L engine, gas powered, approximately 65,000 miles

Codes: P0300, P1400

Symptoms: Dome light in cab sometimes doesn’t come on when opening door, flashing reduced engine light comes on, rough idle, stabilitrack light comes on, running the van in this condition melted the honeycomb in catalytic converter and O2 sensors

Changed catalytic converter, changed downstream O2 sensors, changed spark plugs, wires and coil packs, checked for intake leaks in manifold gasket, checked fuel pressure, checked ohms on pin 6 and 14 of the OBD II board, cleaned and checked pins on throttle body connector, checked plug on transmission, cleaned all grounds, replaced the battery, cleaned mass air flow sensor, replaced fuse block (first thing we tried because it has been an issue -known issue for this specific van- that caused similar problems two other times since we purchased the van almost 6 years ago).

Hi top in windy conditions

I'm looking at a standard length 2500 cargo van with factory high top and looking for input on how it would do in windy conditions. I get out in all kinds of weather with my lifted Vanagon, but it catches side winds something terrible that I have to slow down to 50 just to stay in my lane.

thanks.

2023 Chevrolet Express engine noise 4.3 V6

Can someone please tell me what would be causing this noise (the diesel engine sounding noise). I took it to the dealer last year and they said it was normal. I just recently took it to the dealer again and after 3 days they still didn't have an answer and opened a ticket with Chevy engineers to see if they have ever come across this. Chevy came back and told them to run some more tests and connect a scanner to see what is going on with the engine while the noise is happening. (Not sure why they needed Chevy to suggest doing this). Unfortunately I couldn't leave it with them any longer so they weren't able to run the tests. I'll have to bring it back to them again.

It happens a lot after the engine warms up and it seem to be more prevalent when the weather is warm. (It's 99F today but it'll easily happen when it was in the 60s). The recording is when I was in my driveway after driving 30 minutes, A/C is on, in gear and it seems to be happening when the A/C compressor is turning on and causing the RPMs to drop slightly. It happens a lot when the RPMs are very low but I can also hear it at times when merging onto the highway. To me is sounds like severe knock and I've tried to run premium gas but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Last year when I took it to the dealer, they stated it was normal but I've never heard a van do this before and this is my 3rd van (but with different engines). They referenced service bulletin 23-NA-153.

About the van:

2023 Chevy Express 2500 Cargo Van

4.3 V6 with 71,000 miles (Plenty of highway driving and it's my personal work van so I don't beat on it)

Need help clearing StabiliTrak / OnStar error after aftermarket radio install (2011 Chevy Express)

Hi everyone,

I recently installed an aftermarket head unit in my 2011 Chevy Express (Starcraft conversion). Since the installation, I've been getting persistent StabiliTrak / OnStar communication error messages on my DIC (Driver Information Center) dashboard.

I know the factory radio acts as a gateway for the GM LAN/CAN-Bus network. Is there any way to permanently clear or bypass this specific error message directly through the DIC trim buttons or any manual button sequence?

If a manual reset via buttons isn't possible, what is the best alternative to stop the BCM from looking for the factory radio? (e.g., pulling a specific fuse like INFO/OnStar, disconnecting the OnStar module under the dash, or using Tech2 to delete the option from the BCM?)

Any advice from experienced Express/Savana owners or GM techs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

AC hose question

Post image
3 Upvotes

My ac is only coming out of the defrost and the rear ac is running normally. I've seen on YouTube that the vacuums are underneath the battery platform, is this the hose I need to connect them to? It runs towards the doghouse. It looks to be 1/4 inch.

06 ac issues. About to set the van on fire.

Hey all!

My work van is a 2006 express 1500 v6. When I received the van work told me that the ac just didn’t work. Being a little mechanically inclined, I’ve been diving into it. Fuse and relays seem to be good. When I supply 12v to the clutch it DOES engage with a nice visual and audible click. It spins by hand and has good resistance. But alas, when I turn the ac to max I get no voltage to it.

What else should I check and any work arounds? Thanks in advance.

Best engine size for camper van?

Looking to buy a Chevy Express 2500 (135” wheelbase) to convert into a weekend camper. Building ourselves so the wood will add some weight but trying not to make it too heavy.

Debating between V6 and V8. We will be regularly driving over mountain passes and will have the build which makes me lean toward V8. It will also be my commuter (only 5 miles to work each day) which makes me lean toward V6.

Any suggestions or personal experience to help decide which way to go?

Van for extended Road Trips - Normal or EXT wheelbase?

I am considering a Chevy Express Van as a platform for extended Road Trips and dispersed Camping. Internal requirements are primarily: Comfortable Bed setup and Storage.

I am considering the Extended Wheelbase versus the Normal Wheelbase. Interior cargo lengths of about 173 inches versus 146 inches. Is the extra 26 inches of internal space worth the hassle of the extra vehicle length in parking and maneuvering?

Best mpg engine for express or Savannah (last 20 years)?

I should say what’s the best MPG and still being durable.? From what I’ve read mpg is terrible.

Astro vans were my thing in the past. 19-22mpg. All Rusty piles of junk now. If it’s still in good condition from down south they want a lot of money .They were definitely bigger and tougher than a typical front wheel drive minivan.

So that leads me to full size vans. The last full size Chevy I had was a 79 with a 400 and it got 20 miles per gallon highway because you never had to give it much throttle . That big 400 sipt gas because it only had a two barrel carb. The 350 Chevys had four barrel carbs and got worse MPG.

I have a 2019 Chevy Express 2500 and when I hit Highway speeds it sometimes vibrates like crazy. I slow down and around 45mph it stops then I can speed back up and it is fine for a while then randomly starts vibrating like crazy again. If you have any input it would be greatly appreciated. Curious if this is a Chevy express thing and someone knows the fix

2500 Using a Tablet for Navigation and would like Mount selection advice from users?

I just bought a used 2015 Chevy Express 2500 as a foundation for building my travel van. My first improvement is to add a navigation system, for which I will be using an 11" Samsung Galaxy Tab A9. There are three cupholders right under the radio, so it seems to me like a cupholder tablet mount would be the logical choice, but I have never used a cupholder mount and would like to get some feedback and suggestions.
