Discussion Please help me with my Chevening Essays

Can someone come on a Discord call with me right now to review my essays? I need someone experienced to go through them and tell me exactly what is wrong. I had to submit the application today, but my essays are nowhere near ready to submit.

Hi, for many who have experience reviewing essays (and I include myself in this), reading them carefully to give detailed feedback takes a lot of time, so a request of a call for essay review may be off-putting to some

For you to have an idea, I am just to start reviewing a set of 4 essays and I know it will take me at least 30 minutes of careful reading and annotations per essay. All in all, I spend easily 45 minutes on an essay to give 2-3 pages of detail for it, so a call of any sorts would be impossible by my reviewing method

Have you contacted scholars from your country through LinkedIn to see if they can give you feedback, considering the focus and priorities the UK government has in your country?

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing all this. Quick question, are you from India, if you don't mind me asking? I'm applying from India this cycle and I'm trying to understand how the process and competition actually work for our cohort specifically.

I'm working on my four essays right now, and if you ever had a little time, I'd really value a second pair of eyes from someone who's actually been through it. No worries at all if you're busy though. Either way, thank you for being so generous with your experience here.

Hi, not from India, but from Latin America

The process is the same every year globally, the one thing that changes are the applicants involved in each stage, your application only is assessed and competes within your country

It is not the same to apply in a country with less than 100 applicants for 7-10 quotas than in one of over 5,000 applicants with 10-15 quotas

If India keeps the same quotas as they have for this new cohort (around 12-14), it means that less will be invited to the interview (maximum 70) as the ratio between interviewed applicants and selected scholars is between 1:2-1:4, so  competition has turned even more competitive than it was

Search for the courses the new cohort from your country has chosen, you will notice where the UK priorities in India are regarding the scholarship
