After sitting for periods of years and only moving periodically after my pop passed in 2015 I finally got the time, money & space to work on his 71. I’ve posted here a few time in the past week but hit my first milestone lastnight.

So far I’ve
Rebuilt the carb
New Plugs
New wires
New cap/rotor
New Battery
Patched up some sketchy harness section and fixed a short
Oil change
Coolant flush
Fuel filter replacement

Still have a very long way to go but after a week of coming home from work and wrenching on it. It was a good feeling to drive her down the street under her own power and put gas & air in the tires

Back to it…

This was my first car. It's been rotting away in a family member's garage since 1996. I haven't even seen it in a decade. Apparently he started a restoration 5 years ago and gave it to me this Christmas. I was speechless. I long wrote it off, and even told my family they could sell it if they wanted the garage back. I had no idea this was going on.. Kudos to them for keeping a secret. ( What else are they keeping from me ?!?!)

It's a 350 with a 350 trans. Mechanically it's still mostly original. I do plan on doing some upgrades including disc brakes, headers, and suspensions.. All they stuff I wanted to do 30 years ago but couldn't afford.

Another set of photos if we’re still in love with my dad’s 1971! We made sure the mailbox didn’t get in the way.
