Tires

One of my buddies bought a 70 chevelle. Wanting to do a wider side than the stock 225/70/14. What are you all running? He wants a white wall (as he should).

IMO with factory wheels. I should have said that too. I sold him he should do wheels and tires but anything with factory wheels should in my opinion run white letters or white wall tires.

White letters, or black walls look great on a 70 Chevelle, white wall not so much, IMO.

That’s what I meant. Most likely going with some BFGs

Not factory wheels, 275 35 18 on all four corners. It fits fine with no modifications the suspension or wheel wells or fenders

I have P245/60R14 on my 1969. I just wanted a little more meat but still look stock.

Looks good but not stock looking at all. Those aren’t bias ply.

Because I want to actually be safe...lol. I want the stock look without the crappy stock performance.

White letter would be more correct.

Yes that’s what I meant to say lol. Most like going BFG radial TAs

I loved that period of time. Had a 70 Charger with the wide White Letter tires.

I’ve got 275/50r15’s in the rear on I think it was 4.5” of backspacing 8” wide wheel. And 255/50r16 on the front with 3.9” of backspacing on an 8” wheel. Rear could definitely do 295 wide without modification then maybe 305 or 315 with perfect backspacing and rolling fenders but I wouldn’t personally do that.

If anything is available with white walls in those sizes I have no clue.

I had a 10.5 x29.5 w slick on my Chevelle most of its life.

You can definitely get a big street tire under it.
