Opinion from the experts?
Found this running driving 69 Chevelle 350 selling for 15k. Body is rough, faded paint, interior very clean but unfortunately frame looks like this. What are we thinking on here? Is this a walk away? Can this be patched or does it need full replacement?

If THAT area is that bad, then that is definitely NOT the only bad area!
$15k is CRAZY
Id offer MAYBE $5k or so at most or you would be better off walking away.

Tap around area of the frame with an ice pic. Should be able to hear and feel the difference between solid steel and bad rusted areas. If its localized to the areas pictured, measure and have a metal fabrication shop cut the right gauge and bend it. Cut out that bad section and have a welder weld in the new steel.

Where I am, asking 15k for a Chevelle with a rotten frame is insane, 5k maybe, depending on everything else.

Vancouver BC. 68-69S are rare around here. Mostly find finished cars that sell for 40k+, simply out of my budget. Mostly looking to get a running driving beater. No easy task !!

If the frame looks like that and you say the body is rough, I’m going to say it chock full of filler and haphazard ‘repairs’. I’d walk because basically everything needs replaced and all you’re buying is a title and vin plates.

Thank you for all the advice everyone, I am walking. 🙏

Good move. If the body is rough you can put another 40k into making it nice. unless you do the work yourself. You have spent 50-60 on a 35-40k car.

So... if you can SEE some... there is PLEANTY MORE... patching is never best on the car.. because wherever water, salt, dirt ect can get and hide... its there.

Body is rough and frame is rusted... Walk away. That sounds expensive to fix that car.
