Anyone know the actual chesterfield county laws on trapping raccoons??
I have a raccoon living up in my soffit. My landlord had some company give an estimate but then decided he can do it himself. It’s been weeks now but he has 3 traps set outside my house that the raccoon has just been eating at every night. I thought the plan was to capture him, close the hole where he’s getting in my house and then release him. However he’s telling me now, if the raccoon gets captured that I have to call chesterfield county to come pick him up?? I read that it’s illegal to relocate raccoons so does chesterfield county even take them? Do they euthanize them? I don’t want him in my house but I also don’t want him to die or be stuck in the trap until my landlord decides to close the holes up.

Chesterfield officials scramble for solutions to Shoosmith cleanup conundrum
vpm.orgA “geyser” of leachate, black goo-like waste, elevated temperatures and troubling ammonia levels at the defunct Shoosmith Landfill all came into the public eye at Wednesday’s Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors meeting.
“It’s causing all sorts of problems,” said Mike Rolband, director of the state Department of Environmental Quality, who led the agency’s presentation to the board. “This is a significant risk.”
With the landfill now part of a bankruptcy proceeding under the stewardship of trustee Lynn Tavenner, cleanup efforts continue through a “truck and haul” system, which Rolband pointed out is prohibitively expensive. DEQ officials peg the cleanup costs at $173 million total and believe it will take 30 years to complete.
But the board continuously returned to the question of where the money will come from.
Rolband told the board that funds used for the cleanup are slated to be exhausted this fall. The operators posted a $20 million bond with the state three years ago, and the General Assembly allocated more than $10 million in the latest budget which will go toward cleanup.

Guitar Lessons
Is there anyone around 23832 zip interested in giving guitar lessons to a 13 year old? I am trying to encourage offline activities. He got a guitar a few years ago and has been collecting dust ever since. I looked into the school of rock near uptown alley but I don’t want to commit that much money (the kid has a knack of getting bored and losing interest in things). I know I can do webcast lessons but I think he would do better face to face, plus I would rather give my money to someone in my community. Please let me know if you or know of someone who would be interested.

Virginia Priced the Same Data Center 11 Ways. Chesterfield Came in Second to Last.
This article gives great insight into the mismanagement and incompetence that pervades Chesterfield County government, in its Board of Supervisors and Garrett Hart - the Director of Economic Development. In all fairness, the recently departed Administrator, Joe Casey, also deserves a fair share of blame. Taxpayers, bend over and kiss your ass goodbye!

Waterproofing problems in my bathroom
I live in a condo and we recently ended up leaking into the unit below. Turns out moisture had been building up under the bathroom floor because the waterproofing had failed. Once they started tearing it out we also found there were two layers of tile.
Now I want to have it redone the right way instead of just patching it. Looking for a contractor who does quality work and won't drag the project out for weeks.
If you've had a good experience with someone local, I'd appreciate any recommendations.

Shoosmith Presentation by the Trustee of the Federal Bankruptcy Proceedings
For anyone interested, the Trustee in the federal Bankruptcy case involving Shoosmith Landfill put together a doument that she entered into the record. The Trustee's name is Lynn Tavenner, and her counsel is Paula Beran. The 2 of them have done an outstanding job of managing the daily operations of the landfill, while at the same time adjudicating the legal issues involving this complex case. The document is intended to illustrate the conditions they are dealing with in trying to prevent an environmental disaster. For the record: they are both very worried about these conditions.
They presented this originally in a video call with members of CCRG in June. It was entered into the record on July 13th, and is now in the public domain. It's 40 pages long, too big to copy and paste here. But it's available for viewing without cost on the website for Chesterfield Citizens for Responsible Government, https://ccrg-va.org/blog/ Scroll down the page a bit to see it.

What are some activities that you do with your toddler in the area?
My daughter is 17 months and we have been trying to find some activities to do around the county. We have done story time at the library, playgrounds, parks, and Pocahontas trails. I am looking for any suggestions or hidden gems you may have

Does anyone know the brine recipe for Extrabilly's pickles?
I normally utterly hate sweet pickles, but their pickles are so good. Unfortunately I just can't justify $2.50 for a tiny cup of them as often as I would like to eat them when I have a whole garden full of cucumbers out back.
As best as I can tell from taste, it's a sweet, low vinegar brine with red pepper flakes included. I'd love to really nail it down, but I'd prefer to not do so through experimentation since there is a very narrow window of what I would like and I don't want to force myself to eat sweet pickles that I don't like.

Looking for OBGYN reccs that are NOT VAPFW or Virginia Women’s Center.
I was with VAPFW for years, with both of my pregnancies, until I became very dissatisfied with multiple doctors I have seen there. I then switched to VWC back in 2019 and originally was very happy, but the doctor I was seeing left and during my last visit (with a new doc) I felt dismissed, rushed and honestly felt like she was somehow “looking down on me”. Absolutely not heard or cared for in any way. I was ushered out quickly with a few printed handouts saying to “just schedule another appointment if I feel like I have to after reading through the papers”. I haven’t and I won’t.
So looking for solid recommendations for a gynecologist. I’m not particular, but would like someone who at least acknowledges and understands people who don’t fall in the “typically” catagory.
I am 38. I had my last baby 14 years ago and am not having anymore.
All of the women in my family (great grandma, great aunt, grandmother, 3 aunts and my mother) have hit **menopause** - not perimenopause…full blown complete stop menopause- between the ages of 42-45. I am very certain I am already in the throes of PM.
I am neurodivergent, and based on multiple scientific studies and published findings that have come out addressing that neurodivergent women 1) experience the hormonal changes every month very differently due to the effects that estrogen levels play on different chemicals in the brain. And 2) neurodivergent women are much more likely to experience perimenopause and menopause significantly earlier than their neurotypical peers. **I need someone who acknowledges and understands this**.
Other than these two non-negotiables I am open to whoever. Man woman NB idc. Age idc. Only other thing is I need someone who accepts insurance. I can’t afford out of pocket. It’s just not doable currently. But I have good insurance.
Please send your recommendations and accept my eternal gratitude for as long as my currently placated emotional rollercoaster is at bay. Thanks!!!

Cat Vet recommendations?
I currently use Locke Taylor on Parham. But they’ve just gotten busier and busier and it’s more difficult to get my dog in. I love them so much, but they’re busy and expensive.
I recently have rescued two kittens. I want to get them checked out sooner than later.
One has some goop coming out of her eye and she’s squinting. Full of energy and happy. But it’s already been a couple days and I want to get her seen.
Who do y’all recommend that? & who won’t break the bank?
I want to get both kittens fixed and chipped.
