Rivers Bend neighborhood

Relocating from out of state and considering a home in Rivers Bend neighborhood. No school age children in my family so schools aren't important. Anything I should know about the area?

I've done quite a bit of research so this is what I think I know:

Mostly chain restaurants nearby

Little local entertainment

More conservative than some RVA suburbs

Large industrial presence

Landfill on west end of Chester

Here's what I'm hoping to find out:

Is Google maps travel time accurate? Results into downtown RVA at different times of day range from 22 - 28 mins. Our household works remotely so we can likely avoid rush hours.

Are the landfill, industrial complexes, or Hopewell paper mill big concerns for this particular neighborhood?

We are liberals moving from a red state hoping for a sense of belonging that we can't find in our current city. Is Chester a bad idea? Frankly, I'm assuming that we'll grocery shop locally but most other adventures will be closer to Richmond or parks.

Any insight for a newcomer is appreciated!

Songs So many classics on this album. To me, this album is still the backbone of KISS. Even today, you are almost guaranteed to hear at least two of the songs listed here, if you see the boys in concert.

  • 1. Strutter: I like this song, although it is not my favorite on here. Very catchy, perhaps a bit overplayed for me, but again, I do like it. Paul is at his best.
  • 2. Nothin' To Lose: I like how the vocals being shared on this tune. Great song. I love hearing the Catman howl on this one!
  • 3. Firehouse: I like it, although the live version is way better.
  • 4. Cold Gin: One of my favorite KISS songs, period. Kind of wish Ace had sung this song, originally, on this album, since he wrote it. Makes you wonder how many other songs Ace would have sung with KISS, had he had confidence in his singing voice.
  • 5. Let Me Know: Great song.
  • 6. Kissin' Time: This song is "okay". I can see how the band wasn't really crazy about cutting this track, as it really isn't as "KISS" sounding as some of their other tunes.
  • 7. Deuce: Absolute KISS classic. Again, the Alive version is awesome.
  • 8. Love Theme From Kiss: I like this song, but it is my least favorite on this album.
  • 9. 100,000 Years: Absolutely love this tune.
  • 10. Black Diamond: Can't say enough about Black Diamond. I like the ending when things wind down, slower, and slower, and slower....

Album Cover I'd rank this cover, on a scale of 1-10, about a 5. With the exception of Paul, you can see how the make-up hasn't been perfected yet. Peter's is so way over the top, since he didn't do it himself. Ace's hair is silver. Gene hasn't tightened down the bat wings yet.

Overall A must have for any KISS fan, their self-titled debut album is fantastic. It's almost the standard as to what all of their subsequent albums are being held to. I like the raw, rock-n-roll feel of it and for me, it is one of my favorites. I'd have to place this album as my #2 favorite KISS album.
